    Great radio but difficult to program

    The Motorola XTS3000 radios can be had for quite cheap because it's difficult to program. The Astro Saber & XTS 3000 CPS software must be run in a 32 bit OS environment so install Windows XP into something like VirtualBox and buy one of those Chinese XTS3000 specific cables and you'll be able to program it. Functions perfectly with my XTS2500s as well as my other handheld ham radios.

    Safe and dependable

    These Talkies are older but usually very good and dependable with new parts getting hard to find. There is a few repair facilities around to program and repair them. New batteries “not made in china” are are still available but very expensive for the personal users and have sat on vendor shelves for several years already. My firemen only use Motorola period !!
