Nice camera for the price, a very nice firm grip to the camera./n And best of all, a very bright and clear view finder eye piece so picture can be easy compose even in broad day light just like the good old camera. I prefer to use it most of the time. The camera is more stable when the camera is held to the eye than trying to take picture through the LCD at a distance. Taking picture through 300mm without using a tripod is possible when held in this way. And a very nice array of Minolta lens is definite a plus. Like the Tokin 28-300mm lens I got from eBay. Take it to a picnic for action filled photos, tele enable catching the moment without intruding the subjects while the wide angle enable catching the group action. Now just need to save up for those nice APO lens. Those APO lens might be too pricy, and the beercan been popular. There is another lens similar to beercan but rarely mentioned so you still can get decent deal. That is Sigma Af-delta. It's 75-200mm a bit narrow than the beercan but it has f 2.8 - 3.5 which is much brighter than beercan give you the better picture. Combine this lens with a65 produce very good event photos. I don't need to be in the front in order to get good pictures. No flash light needed for most case so it was no distraction to the event and photo came out very nature. (A lot of time they didn't even know I am taking the picture.)Read full review
I purchased a lightly used Sony A65 Camera, with 4 batteries, charger, and a 18-135MM lens, found a nice leather case for it here also on Ebay (Sony) and have used the camera taking photos for weddings. I also purchased a Zyiune 3 gimbal version 1 crane and a Fly Cam 3000 for video. These work very well with the Sony A65. Purchased a Manfrotto Quick Release also for the slider, and for the crane. I couldn't be more please with the set up, and I have saved $$$$ buying slightly used equipment here on Ebay.

I was excited about receiving this $999.00 camera w/ lens. I had read that the Nex7 and the A77 where number one and two best cameras of the year. The A65 has almost all the features that the A77 has except the weather seal and less evpensive view finder. When I took the camera out of the box the first thing I noted is that it was a bit smaller and much lighter than my D90. It also did not look as well made as the D90. It felt like a toy camera. I mounted the 18-55kit lens to take a few test shots. The lens was very light and seemed unfimiliar compared the Nikon lens I was used to. Then I inserted the fully charged battery and also a new SD card. The camera would not reccognise the new card.I trid an older card, that did not work either. I called Sony help line. They told me the camera has a malfuntion. This made me unhappy so I returned it for credit. I investigated further and deceided to purchase a Canon 7D with 28-135 mm kit lens. The best camera move I ever made. It has Sony and Nikon tied to a pole as far as C sensor DSLR cameras are concerned. Read up on the 7D.To many features to mention and built like a horse. I gave the A65 low star ratings, but I never got to try it. So my ratings may be unfair. I give it a nutural. The Nex7 and the A77 were unavailable at the time or I would have purched the A77.Read full review
I'm pro level with 10,000ft² of studios. Last Canon I owned was a 5D Mark II... I sold it after I got my first Sony A65 and compared them fiercely side by side for a month... no difference except the Canon is $1,000 more! Not just the body is less expensive but all the Sony lenses are less expensive too because the image stabilization (and I leave mine turned on) is in the body and you don't pay for it each time you buy a different lens! a) Very fast, translucent mirror technology. b) great picture quality and 24.3MP, great value for price. c) Image-Stabilization is in the camera, so Sony lenses have fewer components inside the lens, thus Sony lenses don't make your camera front heavy like Canon, Nikon... d) Tons of professional features, but light weight. This is the mark of excellent engineering. Hey, I had a bag-phone in the 90's, I'm glad I have a small, light phone now. e) Plays excellent video too, with fast constant auto-focus using the translucent mirror technology. f) Easy for women to grab and shoot, light weight, good engineering.Read full review
Better Viewfinder than the A55 - A58 series, larger, sharper LCD and far sharper viewfinder. 24 Megapixel at a reasonable price.

I have been a Photography enthusiastic for more than 10 years now. My favorite camera was Nikon D70 Felt Solid in my hand. Well comparing to the Nikon and Canon brand Sony needs to work on there models little bit more. The Picture quality is excellent but still looses details at times especially in continuous mode. On continuous mode its very fast for the first 10 shoots after that its slow if you keep on clicking and the lighting is different in some pictures taken in continuous mode which was kinda annoying. Over all build quality is good Really good in Low light and video mode. Any day better than Nikon D5100. Even though you are in Manual mode you can't manually set Ev level for that you have to be in shutter priority or aperture priority which was kinda annoying when i used. Also Sony took out the option for vertical Grip in this model which is a bummer. But it fits in both a Professional or amateurs hands very well. All the added features like Panorama mode, HDR, 3D all are great, which is hard to find in other makes.Read full review
Cheap enough that it’s good for beginners and pros. It has a high megapixel count, meaning you can zoom in and the pictures will still be clear! I love it!

I purchased this product as open box new. Boy, am I happy with this camera! It was manufactured from 2011 - 2013 and I purchased January 2016. It is really sharp and has great settings for a novice like me with advanced settings as I really work to harness more advanced photography. This camera is terrific and other Sony cameras less and more expensive used are also very good. This is the only DSLR I have owned and very happy.

The camera appears to have all the bells and whistles - which most people will never use. The camera could not produce a properly exposed shot at less than 4 feet however. This problem renders the camera totally useless for product photography, ebay shots or macro photography. Very upset the camera would not function and properly expose photos regardless of manual overrides or metering settings. The LCD also would go dark when trying to override & compensate for certain lighting situations suggesting it was tied to the exposure brain, I could not believe it would not stay properly lit. I found this very frustrating, irritating and an evidently overlooked feature in the design set. We had a serious problem with these issues - Sony was contacted and indicated the camera should be sent in. We chose to resell on Craigslist and bought a Fuji X-S1 for excellent overall performance, including super macro & 30X ZOOM. Our Canon equipment leaves the Sony in the dust also.Read full review
I'm a novelist and short story writer. I bought this camera primarily to take photos that I will then use for the covers of my books. I wanted great quality pics for an affordable price, and this Sony gave me both. Buying this also was an upgrade for me from the Sony A200. The only thing I don't like about this camera is the placement of the on-off switch. Sometimes I inadvertently adjust the control dial accidentally when reaching for the on-off switch. But that's a very minor inconvenience. This is a great camera.
