iPhone 3G is the second generation of iPhone, a smartphone made by Apple that combines an iPod, a tablet PC, a digital camera and a cellular phone. iPhone OS 2.0 was released concurrently with the 3G phone. (iPhone OS 2.0 may be installed on first generation iPhones.) The operating system update includes a number of features designed for business including support for Microsoft Exchange. Increased mobile security includes secure access to corporate networks over Cisco's IPSec VPN. Security features, such as remote wipe and inactivity time-out, have also been added. Apple has released a software developer kit (SDK) for custom applications and a configuration utility for centralized management.
It is wise to buy an iPhone that was unlocked by the factory. Problems have been minimal, and the wife absolutely loves it. So the upsides have been great. Since T-Mobile does not support the iPhone 'officially', expect to do some technical setup in order to get their internet service working. I'm a certified Tech, but even so, I'd never have figured out the necessary data to put into the phone, not would I have known where to put it. It's much like setting up a router. Exacting and technical. Once done, it works fine, but it takes patience. The IOS has frozen twice, but resetting the iPhone has cured the problems both times. I had to look up how to do it, and there's nothing the user can do to keep it from happening. Everything works except for receiving messages with pictures. No one knows why. We can send messages with pix, but can't receive them. Summing up, the 3GS was a great value for $240. Buying anything electronic that is used and one generation out of date will always have some difficulties, and you must expect this. The only alternative is to buy a new item and have factory support. The choice is up to you.Read full review
Phone is excellent, a very sensitive sensor, easy to use, pretty loud, convenient system of display messages, despite the fact that on many sites and forums, write about the terrible quality of shooting, he takes off well, such as pictures of text under indoor lighting - visible to approaching each letter is quite clear, quick and easy search of the Internet, you can view weather forecast anytime and anywhere on the 5 day, pretty convenient.
The good: The iPhone 3GS finally adds common cell phone features like multimedia messaging, video recording, and voice dialing. It runs faster; its promised battery life is longer; and the multimedia quality continues to shine. The bad: The iPhone 3GS' call quality shows no improvements and the 3G signal reception remains uneven. We still don't get Flash Lite, USB transfer and storage, or multitasking. The bottom line: The iPhone 3GS doesn't make the same grand leap that the iPhone 3G made from the first-generation model, but the latest Apple handset is still a compelling upgrade for some users. The iPhone 3GS is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement.
I was looking for a way to be able to have an iPhone but not pay a monthly fee for minutes / data I may or may not use. I was not disappointed purchasing an unlocked iPhone 3gs. It runs Apple's latest iOS (6.01), and is able to run most of the features. Also runs the vast majority of the apps available for purchase / download on the App Store. Pairing this with a secondary carrier such as H2O wireless allows me to have all the features of an iPhone at only a fraction of the cost - annual phone plan (2000 minutes) is only $100 per year! Great deal for those who only talk / text occasionally, but still want the functionality of an iPhone.
The main thing that makes this iPhone different than its predecessor is 3G. 3G is a high-speed internet provided by AT&T that only some phones are capable of using. It’s relatively new and allows cell phone users who have 3G capabilities to surf the internet at near broadband speeds. The iPhone 3G boasts this ability to use the 3G network provided by AT&T which has helped expand its features, making everything faster, more reliable, and more accurate. Now that you know the main difference between the first generation iPhone 2G and the second generation iPhone 3G, let’s move onto the fun part of the iPhone – the features
Iphone 3GS is really a wonderful phone. Can't believe how could it be that much user friendly. many thanks for Steve Jobs. Its amazing. But Im still unable to use it for 100%. I bought a jailbroken one & when Im installing new Apps (pirated), itunes shows an Error code, later I realised that I was required to instal Appsync 4.0 via Cydia. After that problem solved. but I still cannot install some apps. Even I install them to iphone they were not working. It suddenly exits from the screen. But my friends were able to install the same apps to IOS 3.0 via Appsync 3.0. May be Appsync 4.0 not 100% support with IOS 4.0.1. But this issue is not a major issue, Bcs all other apps working really well. I love my iphone a lot. I brought a brand new iphone & IOS 4.0 is really great. If you are planning to buy a iphone, my advice is do not buy any without IOS 4.0 or any latest version. If you know the jailbreaking process then no problem. But remember not to update it via itunes to a latest version. You will end up with a Locked iphone..! then you have to suffer until hackers release the unlocking software for that latest version. Good Luck Guys..!Read full review
I bought this phone for a replacement of my other iphone 3gs after losing it. I like the size of the screen- perfect for playing games and using the internet. The camera takes great quality pictures, but I wish it did have a flash, that would make it better for nighttime photo taking. I have not owned any of the other iphones and and am very contempt with this one. Some newer games cannot be played though on this phone because of the operating system which does stink, but are plenty of games out there for this one. I would definitely recommend this phone to any person.
This is a greart phone in every aspect but there are a few things I learned after purchasing it which are important to bear in mind. First off I would buy this phone over an iPhone 4 or 4S for a few reasons. The reasons I chose to go with the 3GS were because the 4 or 4S each have a glass screen on both sides which I wasn't crazy about, and felt it was an accident waiting to happen. The 3GS is far better than the iPhone 3 because its a much faster phone and worth the extra cost- which isn't much. I'm not even sure you can still get an iPhone 3 anymore but don't even consider it without reading some reviews. I did a lot of research before making a purchase. BVottom line, if you do facetime or Skype then this phone isn't for you because it doesn't have a front camera which is necessary. Thye iPhone 4 and 4S each have a front camera. As for me I don't do either and so it wasn't neccessary for me to have a newer model. The camera has less megapixels but again it wasn't something I needed. The iPhone 3GS does everything the 4 or 4S does and it operates identically so I didn't feel the need to spend the extra money. I bought an iphone 3GS unlocked on Ebay which was a brand new unit with a full warranty from Apple. The thing to watch out for though is to make sure you don't buy one that is Jailbroken. I asked Apple if there was anything to watch out for and they said as long as its factory unlocked the phone will be under the warranty but not if it's Jailbroken. If it is Jailbroken then that has to be removed in order for Apple technicians to even look at it. When I bought tyhe phone I did the vendor guaranteed that it wasn't jailbroken and Everyting works great. I even had Apple look at the phone after getting it and they checked my warranty status, and everyting was as I was promised by the seller. I went with a company called Straight Talk for service and I get unlimited talk, text and web for $45.00 a month. This was my reason for buying an unlocked phone online instaed of going with Sprint or AT&T or Verizon. I didn't want to be locked into a contract and I didn't want to pay what they charge. One other thing to bear in mind is that if you go with AT&T prepaid service called go phone, you won't be able to get web under that plan. Even though they were the exclusive company for the iPhone, they don't offer it with their go phone prepaid service. With Straight Talk you canget web unlimited and the service is $5.00 less than AT&T's plan. The thing you need to know though is that there isn't a way to change the APN settings on the iPhone 3GS so that you can get web with Straight talk, because Apple didn't have those settings in the phone to change. To get web with Straight Talk there is a free download which I did and now am able to get internet without being on wifi. The download has to be done while you are on wifi but once it's downloaded the phone works great. The download can be done at www.unlockit.co.nz. I did some research again before downloading and read that a lot of people still had issues with getting web with Straight Talk after they did the download, but I didn't have any. Well at first it didn't seem to work but after a few hours the web started working fine and hasn't given me any problems since. Ater downloading it you can check under general settings and unlockit should be listed under profile. If it does the web should work. I am very happy with this phone and seems to be about the best phone I've ever owned.Read full review
