Hidden Gem
The Walt Disney Treasures series is a dream come true for serious Disney collectors and fans. It is such a shame that half a dozen titles have ever been released here. This title is one of many that is exclusively available in the USA (Region 1). It may sound like a collection of dull documentaries, but if you look closer it is much more. It most notabely contains a very rare film called The Reluctant Dragon. This film in its original form, was a documentary about Disney studios that featured several stories along the way. One of which is the animated segment called Relucant Dragon. You also get the best Goofy cartoon How To Ride A Horse. This Goody cartoon is NOT included on the "Complete Goofy" collection!! You can only get it here, in this collection. The insight and access you ... The Walt Disney Treasures series is a dream come true for serious Disney collectors and fans. The Reluctant Dragon
This is a two DVD set. I had the mistaken thought that there was a good background, leading up to the cartoon. If you take the incredibly good (but short) cartoon out of the mix, the entire time is spent watching Disney blatantly promote his empire. There's nothing entertaining, and little resembling humore, in the remaining minutes (hours?). The Reluctant Dragon cartoon makes the whole set worthwhile, but I found only the feature cartoon worth watching. In hindsight, my guess would be that the feature was just too short, to make a "real" feature length clip. Accordingly, Disney used the best filler/advertisement he had on hand.This is a two DVD set. This like all the other "Disney Treasures" is a great video history of the story of Walt Disney Productions. They are great for adults wanting to know more about how the "Disney Magic" works. These historic videos are OK for children but they are lacking in actual cartoon material that younger children might sit and watch. This is in no way a detriment to the overall value of these CD's themselves. It is just that some CD sets are better suited for younger audiences because of the volume of cartoon material they contain. That said, this is a wonderful video and I would recommend to anybody that is interested in Walt Disney and his Disney Magic!This like all the other "Disney Treasures" is a great video history of the story of Walt Disney Productions.
