    Alternator Bracket for 97 Jeep TJ

    My Jeep is 23 years old, and most auto supply stores do not carry/stock some essential items for older vehicles over 10 years. Here’s the story. A roller bearing seized up in my Jeeps engine Upper idler pulley assembly. This bearing seizure was so abrupt the force of the failure bent my idle pulley bolt and forced the pulley into the alternator bracket. The boss face of the alternator bracket assembly which the pulley is bolted/ mounted was destroyed before the engine could be shut down. The serpentine belt was displaced, and the pulley was discolored, and burred at the inboard edges. Original alternator bracket severely damaged, and gouged at critical fit area. In a nutshell, the Alternator Bracket purchased on EBay was a direct fit. Very satisfied. The aluminum casting needed to be wire ...

    Part worked

    Part is not available from the dealer or aftermarket. Bolt holes/ threads were covered in paint. I had to chase each hole with a tap. Would have been better off unpainted. It worked.
