I had scanned a book on pilates, and given a few exercises a whirl before purchasing this, so I wasn't completely 'green.' Nevertheless, I still learned some valuable things for beginners from her intro. Its concise and well-stated. The exercises are demonstrated excellently - as just after her demo, the same move executed *incorrectly* and 'gotcha's' are given; that way, you can check yourself. Pilates is really about quality not quantity, so how correctly you do them is indeed important. I would recommend this to any pilates starter. Its a great 'square one.'

I really enjoy the dummies series. This is a great start up for learning Pilates. The instructions are simple and the instructor is calm and seems to enjoy teaching you the exercise routine. This DVD also shows you alternate ways to make the routine more challenging and/or easier for you.
This is a good beginners place to start. She explains and demonstrates the basic exercises very well. There is also an intermediate workout that puts together the basics and some other exercises. I am a complete beginner and was able to follow along.
Didn't help me print things way to basic.
