Great condition, works perfectly! Didnt come with the 5v wall charger (I bought it used), but you can actually charge it using the mini usb connection under the little panel where the SD card goes, and it holds a charge for quite a while. Its clearly a few years old given the type of technology it uses, but the overall quality and contruction are fantastic! Really happy with the recording quality, range of pick-up (which is adjustable) and the user interface. The only thing thats not great is that its hard to find a windscreen that fits it, but thats something I could easily modify with a needle and thread. :)

this is easy to use when needed to record in the moment. I keep it in my guitar case for those moment of inspiration. whenever i am playing i use the five volt cord and a 32gb mem card and just leave it on record and perfectly backs up everything. Also, this has an on board tuner and a simple equalizer. The loop feature lets u play back a section as many time as nescessary and you can play along with the recording. A word of warning use a cheaper ear buds instead of headphones and you will find it works better

Whether you are a vocalist, soloist, whatever. To get a good grip on your strengths and weaknesses, all musicians should listen to their sound played back once in awhile. This practice gives you a 'listener's perspective'. A sound that you may not always be aware of. The Tascam DR-1 makes a great practice tool for this purpose. The unit is easy to operate. With the machine in hand, I was able to go thru the entire owners manual in about a half hour. In this price range, the DR-1 gives you a lot of bang for your buck by offering several useful features. You can easily loop and slow down the recording to learn those tricky passages. It even has a built in chromatic tuner, a metronome. I am a keyboard player and am in the process of producing a simple demo with the DR-1. The recorder has pretty good fidelity. It is also computer friendly. The unit is also equipped with a sound on sound/two track like record feature in it. You can even add effects such as reverb and chorus. Best of all the DR-1 has a RECHARGEABLE BATTERY in it. And I strongly recommend that you stay away from any portable recorder that does not come with a rechargable battery option. Because these little beasts suck up a lot of power real quick! I have a Tascam DR-03 that runs on standard AAA's and it has wound up in my junk drawer for this very reason. The DR-5 with it's AA's is not much better either. I am very happy with the DR-1. If anything ever happened to it I would get another one. If you do decide get one, even though you can charge it while pluged into a computer, I recomend that you dig in your pocket just a little bit more and pick up a compatible AC battery wall charger for it.
