About this product

Product Information

The first charming mystery in the New York Times bestselling Coffeehouse Mystery series--where caffeine and crime are always brewing... Clare Cosi used to manage New York City's historic Village Blend coffeehouse, until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years away she's back in action and back to the grind, serving up steaming hot caffeine one cup at a time. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the coffeehouse, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work--until she discovers the assistant manager dead in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere. NYPD Detective Mike Quinn finds no sign of forced entry or foul play and deems the whole thing an accident. But despite the attractive investigator's certainty, Clare isn't convinced. Now, if she wants to get to the bottom of things she'll have to do some sleuthing of her own--before anyone else ends up in hot water... Includes recipes and coffee-making tips!

Ten years ago, at the age of twenty-nine, Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend located in the heart of Greenwich Village, New York, when she left to pursue a life in suburbia where she could raise her daughter. Now, at the age of thirty-nine, she's decided that the slow pace of New Jersey is beginning to bore her, so when she gets a call from Madame (the owner of the Village Blend) to come back as manager, Clare jumps at the chance. However, as she and her cat Java make their way into the Blend, Clare is startled to find Anabelle, the Village Blend's assistant manager, sprawled on the floor, unconscious, surrounded by coffee grounds. When the police arrive, they feel that it was nothing more than an accident, as there is no sign of forced entry, or a struggle, but Clare ...

  • Uses Jesus name in vain.

It was interesting and good until it got to the page where Jesus name was used in vain. I threw the book away!

  • On What Grounds

I love Cleo Coyle's writing style and her choice for a setting. I spent several evenings reading this book at a coffee shop and the atmosphere definitely contributed to my enjoyment. The mystery is interesting and keeps you guessing but is less intense and dramatic than other murder mysteries, which I actually happen to like. It's the first installment in a series that I intend to finish; I have all but one of the books and to me they're a great read!

  • Great murder series

Borrowed this series from the library and enjoyed it so much I decided to buy the books.
