The Zoom HD16CD digital multitrack recorder allows you to make and record the music you desire. This machine is equipped with an 80-gigabyte hard drive that holds up to 240 hours of audio recordings and features eight simultaneously recording tracks with 16 playback tracks. This model allows you to create your own sounds or revolutionize your favorite music with more than 100 effects for changing vocals, bass, guitar, and drum as well as mixing and mastering. The Zoom HD16CD digital multitrack recorder gives you 60 seconds of sample time to allow for endless leeway in creating complex and layered compositions. The Zoom HD16CD has much to offer, whether you’re an independent recording artist or collaborating with other artists. With its multitrack and stereo album modes, make master copies of all your sessions with the onboard high-speed CD burner. Zoom is well known for producing musician-friendly, feature-packed gadgets that offer great value for individual artists and recording studios. The Zoom HD16CD digital multitrack recorder is no exception with its ability to record eight inputs as 16-bit, 44.1KHz audio files. The internal signal processing and the converters themselves are 24-bit until the final stage of the recording process when it’s changed to the 16-bit standard used on audio CDs. This unit has an onboard CD/RW drive so you can complete song/album masters and make backups. The integral USB 2.0 bus allows you to archive song data, and import and export WAV files as well as completed mixes to your PC or Mac. An internal hard disk drive of 80GB gives plenty of space to store up to 10 master mixes and 160 virtual tracks per song. Like previous generations of recorders from the Zoom brand, the HD16CD provides an onboard drum machine, bass synthesizer, guitar effects, harmony-generation processor, loop sample facilities as well as step-time and real-time sequencing. In addition to these, the insert, chorus, delay and reverb effects, can be used to construct fairly complex rhythm arrangements without needing to use external instruments. The Zoom HD16CD digital multitrack recorder is a truly versatile device with a new and ergonomic design that can even be used as a midi control surface for Cubase. This model’s recording quality is superb while the machine noise is very low. This unit’s onboard effects have been arranged so that there is always a chorus/delay and stereo reverb available for use in a send/return configuration. Each channel also features a separate auxiliary send path, which is output from the stereo sub-out jack and be used to either send out to a secondary headphone feed or external effects processor. The Zoom HD16CD features insert algorithms, which cater for guitar, vocal, and drum recordings and includes dynamic processors, such as compressors and speaker and amp simulators. Users can choose where to insert positions, such as at the beginning of the insert chain, after the recording during mixing, or in the stereo path to the master outputs. The Zoom HD16CD digital multi-track recorder is the ideal choice for artists ready to take their sound to the next level.

    The Best.

    I have owned the R16 and R24 after selling my hd16cd, but have come back. I have owned numerous other brands and at the end of the day, this beats tascam, korg, roland, and any other brand that takes a shot at an all-in-one mixer/recorder. It is a diamond in the rough, and survives. The biggest issue these units have is an archaic hd, as is the case with all older computer products using a hard drive. I would have said it was painful to restore without the restore disk, but I emailed zoom and they sent the disk image within an hour. There are endless resources online describing exactly how to install a sshd, which I intend to do this week. These will last and folks will want them for a long time. So should you!

    Buy this 24-bit recorder instead of studio time

    This is a nightmare for small studios, but there's just no reason to pay someone else to record your band when you can just spend the $350 on a Zoom and make as many recordings as you want! Be sure to search for a compatible memory card, as all won't work (you need the high speed). The whole reason we go to a studio is for the drum tracks. Anyone can stick a mic in front of a guitar cab & get a great sound. Right out of the box I was able to get pro sounding drum tracks using SM57's and a couple cheap condensers. Dump your 8-drum tracks onto 2, then you have 14 left for the rest of the band. You can even use 2 mics per guitar cab with all these extra tracks. Easy upload to your PC for mixing & editing too.     Zoom R16 Superb

    I was looking for a digital recording device external to my video cameras for better quality and back-up. Initially, I looked at the Zoom 4n but couldn't beleive the R16 brand new was only $40 more on E-Bay. With 8 individual inputs and mini recording studio capability, the R16 is an unbelieveable value. Quality has been superb (although limited use so far). Now I feel comfortable with doing music videos for local bands' promotional CD's because I can capture decent audio/music via 8 inputs with mixing freedom in post. I'm very happy with this purchase and E-Bay has come through again with an excellent value. Thanks E-Bay.

    Zoom hd16cd

    I had the Zoom stand alone 10 track before purchasing the hd16,and absolutely loved it, but it petered out in a little over a year( just about the time I was getting the damn thing down). So I looked into a few other digital recorders, but found that none had an onboard drum machine,now I'm not midi literate so this mattered alot. So with that said let me just say this thing is BADASS!!! This recorder can be stand alone or with the included cubase l4 editing software, the possibility's are endless. The learning curve is a little higher than the ten track, but the payoff is worth it. One man can compose, edit, master and burn a symphonic or rock masterpeice thats sounds as professional as any commercial cd out there. And from what I understand Zoom has worked out most of the bugs from there ...

    HD16 CD Digital Multi Track Recorder

    Item received in good shape. Everything worked on equipment. This HD16 recorder has lots of features. I used it recently as a mixer for live music program. Good sound, good quality. Easy to use as an eight input mixer attached to an amplifier and speakers. The more detail feature of creating drum affects and mixing with other tracks is a little more complicated as is using the other 8 input tracks but it just takes time to learn how to use all features. The on-board DC burner is good and easy to use. Over all good purchase.
