Product Information

Konami's seminal shooter series resurfaces as a five-game compilation exclusively for PSP. Each classic coin-op game is presented in its original 2D, side-scrolling orientation, but players are also free to switch to a widescreen viewpoint for a new twist on the sci-fi action. All games involve blasting relentless swarms of enemy vessels as players prepare to engage towering boss characters to save the galaxy. Glowing capsules left behind from defeated enemies can be stockpiled to form a choice of power-ups, ranging from bombs and lasers to shields and missiles. In addition to all five Gradius games, including the previously unreleased Gradius Gaiden, the collection features a gallery mode where players can listen to music and watch trailers for each title.

    A Great Collection

    This collection is wonderful! A must-have for any Gradius fan. For anyone not familiar with Gradius games, like me, you will struggle as they are tough games. But at the same time, they are fun and make you want to continue trying over.. and over... and over... and over! Plenty of options within the games, such as changing the screen style between the original resolution, fitted, stretched for widescreen, etc. You can also listen to the music from all of the games from the main menu which is a great feature in my opinion. Would highly recommend!

    Pretty good, though the options are annoying..

    What can really be said about this other than, yes... It's Gradius, nothing but Gradius. Fans of the series will find this to be an excellent product, 5 Gradius games on a single UMD disc. Compared to other game series collections Gradius Collection is very well made, the games are seemingly glitch free and feature some nice rendering improvements.. My only real complaints are that some of the options are a little confusing, the default settings are somewhat irritating, such as the semi-automatic powerup system, which I immediately set back to manual.. Also, I kind of which they included the SNES version of Gradius 3... I've never really liked the arcade version, which is what was included here. Overall, it's a pretty good buy.

    Gradius Collection: Remember when?

    Remember when video games were good? Remember when it took a little more skill and a few less buttons to play? Remember when they were a little less sophisticated but a lot more fun? Pac Man? Space Invaders? Defender? They didn't have "final bosses" but you were still driven to play until your arms cramped and your hands were numb. Gradius Collections is a step in that direction if you're looking for a little gaming nostalgia. Granted, each game on this disc has a beginning and end, but the replay value of each is out the roof! The graphics are NOT state of the art and the soundtrack isn't something you'd want in your car audio system but that's okay because you're still going to be seeing it in your sleep (Tetris anyone?) and hearing it in your head. So if you're a veteran gamer ...

    Great product!

    The product is perfect, no scratches or anything. I bought it cause I used to love playing this game on Nintendo. There are 5 versions of the game Gradius in this UMD. The graphics are fine and the sound gets better on the 4th and 5th version. There's the option to save the game (using the memory card). You can also just listen to the music from the 5 versions or watch some videos related to them (Galery option).

    Good, but a few flaws

    If you've ever played Gradius then you will love this. Its all the classics thrown into one portable on-the-go-when-you-want-it package. Everything is just like the old ones with a few extra things thrown in like all the music playable from the go, along with movies for them. Save/Load data for scores and options. The only flaw I can really find is there isnt a "reset" command. If you die in the middle of area 4 and lose all your power ups and want to restart, you have to exit the game and start it over again unless you just suicide all your lives and go through restarting that way. It's very good, but not without it's flaws.
