Fantastic Movie of all time
I purchased this video set of The Thorn Birds for my sister that is dissabled. I own it on DVD and have watched it several times over the past few months. If you've never seen this movie and you love a good romance you have to take the time to watch this movie. It's 8 hrs long with out commercials. I don't recommend this movie to any child under the age of 16. If you're over 16 you need to take the time to watch this movie. You won't be sorry. Once you see it you'll want to own a copy yourself so you can watch it anytime you want. Meggie knew from the day she set eyes on Father Ralph, when she was a very young child that he was the one that she would love forever. This 4-VHS Tape Set of "The Thorn Birds" is very good to have. It makes me feel that I have more of an original than having a dvd or blu ray copy. It has beautiful scenery, actors are superb, and the story line is very realistic. Could a priest fall in love with someone whom he guided as a child? Could that same child end up romantically involved with that same priest later on? The answer to both is yes! However, the priest is bent on staying loyal to his priesthood, while deeply wanting love from the woman. All that happens throughout the "years" of the story is very intense, wildly romantic, as well as fatal at its ending. Learn why the story is called "The Thorn Birds" and how that name fits the story perfectly, especially at its end. This is a story you will want to add to your ... The Thorn Birds Collection
I watched the Thorn Birds mini-series when it was first aired on television in the 80s. I loved it then, and...so many years later, it still holds the same magic. As controversial as the subject matter is (a priest falling in love,resulting in a personal battle between his love for God and his love for a woman), it's a well-written movie with a star-studded cast and a fathomable plot. It's a long movie, and probably couldn't be watched in one sitting. I watched it over the course of 4 evenings, but it wasn't difficult to get right back into it each night. I highly recommend it for anyone who's never seen it, or for anyone who hasn't seen it in years like myself. Just beware that it will bring out alot of emotion.
