This amplifier and the others in this Alpine series must be mounted horizontally! This amp is small and is a Class D. It easily fits under a seat in my vehicle, and space restriction is the top reason that I decided on this amp. I have mine in a mini van so the 300 W for the subwoofer channel is plenty for the downward firing setup with a single 10-inch sub that I have. 75 WPC x4 is enough to fill the inside of the van with sound running component speakers in the front and coaxials in the back. The SQ is clear at lower volumes and will respond when pushed louder. This unit is bridgeable so you could do 150 WPC x2 plus the 300 watts for the sub channel. In addition, if you need more than one amp for your setup, you can get any of the several Alpine models in this style and they are designed to stack on top of one another securely.Read full review
Great amp. Easy install. Easily powers a set up separates in the front, a pair of coaxials in the rear and a 10" sub. Gains are set low and still more volume than I can handle. Class D amp makes a huge difference with size and heat. Other nice things are the hex screw connectors for power, ground and remote. The speaker terminals are screwed into a little plug that also makes it easy. All around I am quite happy with the amp. The only issue (and it's really a non-issue) is the first few times I really cranked it I smelled a little bit of "burning electronics." Similar to the smell from a new tube TV or something. It's since worn off.
This Alpine 5 channel amplifier is AWSOME. It powers my Infinity speakers just right and the sound is very crisp and clear. As for the fifth channel, I am powering a 10" Kicker Solo-Baric sub in a ported box and it hits very hard. My head unit is a Sony and that helps with controlling the adjustments to all the speakers. This amp is very small compared to other 5 channel amps and was very easy to install. It has inputs for 3 sets of RCA's for the front, rear and sub. If you don't have lots of space or don't want to run more than one amp, I HIGHLY recommend you buy this amp if it is in your budget, you will like it.
Alpine is truley Superior. This why not only did this amp perform better than previous models it exceeded. I was going to go with One but Decided on two types the PDX5 and 4.150 I was able to bridge the PDX5 with ease and you could hear the difference from 75 to 150 Watts. and Stacking helps alot when your looking to save room. I do recommend installing a compacitors before the Amp( you might not need it but it helps. which worked out better than I hoped. I also recommend using power distribution blocks, it saves on need less wiring and saves alot of time. and Ensure all grounds are checked and double checked with a multimeter as wee ensure that the OHM's are nice and low. I used 4 Gauage for the Intial and used a distribution block into 8 Gauage. Worked better than I hoped.
I purchased an Alpine PDX-5 car amplifier and within a week I received the amp without any problems. I have installed it in my Chevy 2500HD Diesel to 2 pairs of JL Audio ZR separates and a 10 inch JL Audio W3. The sound is great and I'm very impressed with power output from such a small amp. Other amps I've owned have been larger in size and take up to much space. Overall, I'd recommend the amp if you're short on space and want great sound.
the product kill the other amplifiers. save space in the car, double power in the midle of the size, don't have a big heat expanders(don't be heated), can put others similar amplifier over, make a work of a two amplifier(5 channels) is a digital amplifier, the signal has less interference than analog amplifier, this is the first technology of the moment
I love the fact that this one amplifier can run the whole system and fit under my driver's seat. The sound quality is clean and powerful. I have it hooked up to Alpine SPX-13REF speakers, one ten inch Memphis M class subwoofer in a sealed box all hooked up to the Alpine IDA-X100 head unit. Great little system that doesn't take up my whole trunk. I love it!
Very impressive amp for the size and price. I had a trunk full of amps that got stolen and I replaced them all with the PDX-5. I was not sure what to expect but the second I turned the system on I could tell it was far superior to my high wattage name brand amps that had been stolen. Nice work Alpine. Never pay MSRP. Ebay all the way.
I would call it compact power house. I hear crystal clear highs, rich mids and very deep bass all because of brilliant sound processing and amplification. This is a great amp I have ever owned. I will definitely recommend.
First the price at some of these local retailers the price for this amp was double . I had been looking around for awhile threw other Internet sites like crutch-field and sonic electonix ebay was the way to go ! I knew this was a great product I would recommend it to any who's looking to upgraded your stock systems from mild to wild it work both ways .Luv this amp without a doubt !
