Included in the group are Frodo and hobbits Sam (Sean Astin), Merry (Dominic Monoghan), and Pippin (Billy Boyd); the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen); human warriors Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) and Boromir (Sean Bean); the dwarf Gimli (John Rhys-Davies); the elf Legolas (Orlando Bloom). Dare I say better than Star Wars? Yes I dare!
As for the books, I love everything about them, except that the story line ever had to end. The movie while not near as good as the book. Typically if I have read a book before seeing a movie I'm almost always sure to be disappointed. This movie however was captivating. It stayed true to the story line as much as possible without making each part of the trilogy 6 hours long. There are few movies over the years that I would dare call a classic and continue to watch for years and years to come. This movie however (and I recommend the extended edition box set) will stay on my shelf next to the Lord Of the Rings Books and the Star Wars Collections for years to come.As for the books, I love everything about them, except that the story line ever had to end. The Lord of the Rings-Fellowship of the Ring
WHAT A MOVIE!! Easily brought the kid out in me! It's got action, adventure, humor, romance, the power of unity, and the strength of loyalty and friendship all rolled into a classic story of good vs. evil. (We all know who wins in the end) Great effects! Brilliantly done!!!! I liked it enough to watch it again, it has to be good to get me to sit through it again.

at first i avoided the film because it looked boring,but one day i say the last half(actually i missed only the first 45 minutes)it was very good,right after i saw The Two Towers and that made me want to watch the first one from the start,well it does start very slow and kind of boring,but you have to watch them being all happy and carefree in order to understand the whole story and really enjoy the trilogy.at first i avoided the film because it looked boring,but one day i say the last half(actually i missed only the first 45 minutes)it was very good,right after i saw The Two Towers and that made me want to watch the first one from the start,well it does start very slow and kind of boring,but you have to watch them being all happy and carefree in order to understand the whole story and really enjoy the trilogy.
