    For anyone that sails and loves the freedom of it will appreciate this book. I have been sailing all my life, as of now thats the best part of 52 years, and I found the accounts of this Syd-Hob race so engrossing that I could feel the sting of the spray on my face and felt as I read. I have never sailed in anywheres near as bad a conditions as these competitors had to endure, but I was on board when these boats were falling down the faces of these monster waves, being rolled and dismasted. Believe it or not it makes me want to don my fowl weather gear and test my own mettel against the forces of the ocean. This book is a reminder of the fact that the most powerful force on this planet is the ocean. While we may battle her from time to time and come away feeling victorious the fact is that ...
