One of the most well written and well acted series that I have ever seen. A story of survival and redemption, dark, intense and powerful. A retelling of the series from late 1970's, this series focuses on the attack of the colonies and conflict with the Cylons. There are hard questions of whether survival is enough, at what cost? Brilliant and unforgettable.

Include the short movie Razor which tells the story of the Battlestar Pegasus, which is interesting and gives one the visual version of information already told in previous BS Galatica episodes. Unfortunately, this like many of the BS Galactica DVD sets is only a half season (just another way to milk as much money out of people as possible). Season 4.0 introduces many strange alliances. The series had started to loose some of its ability to surprise one ... they started pulling out all the stops, and it is interresting, but now that one is accustom to this, things that would once have been shocking are less so by Season 4. Anyway, the end of the series is approaching and it is still entertaining as things build up to a climatic finish.
A lot of people don't know this, but, because the writer's strike was going on at the time, the last episode of season 4.0 (or first half of season 4 if you were watching on Sci-Fi)was going to be the final episode of the series if the strike didn't work itself out in time. It would have been the most depressing ending to a tv show in tv history! I would have cried my eyeballs out if it had ended that way. I mean what a way to end a series! But, fortunately the strike ended in time for the BSG crew to pull together the last half of the season (4.5 now on DVD) and was it one of the best tv series ever....in the history of TV. I was behind on the series when the last half of season 4 rolled around and was being advertised on Sci-Fi. I didn't have cable or satellite at all from the beginning of the series and finally got it a few days before the premier of the last half of season 4 (the final season). I had a marathon a couple of nights before the premier and did not feel that I hated one episode. I get chills just thinking about how everything turned out for the show and cast and crew and actors and just everyone involved in general; especially the fans! It is in first place as my favorite Sci Fi series ever! Until recently, Star Trek Deep Space Nine was my favorite series ever but, the producer of that show produced BSG too! So he just topped his game as far as I'm concerned. Buy the whole series if you have the luxury or if you haven't been able to see any of it. You won't be disappointed!Read full review

What can I say, this whole series is such a change from the original. Names may be the same but the characters (and genders) are updated a bit. I grew up with the original series and am just as hooked now. What I dis liked about the new BSG is that it had to end unfortunately. Maybe it was a good thing, maybe not. They could have gotten a couple/few more seasons out of it, we'll never know now. Awesome Acting, Awesome cinematography and CG (the best in a TV series since FARSCAPE!!), The crew's that get it right and make the characters look good. If you do not at least watch this series you will be poorer for it.
