If you like to make bread this is the book for you. L bought this book in 1976-78. At that time we were living in San Francisco. I regularly made bread for the family and this was my go to book. My wife gave that book to our son some six or so years ago as he was now making bread. I missed the book so I bought this one. Sometimes you can still reconnect with old friends. It is a great read for the serious cook.
Its thorough with tons of recipies and has stories of real life sourdough experiences throughout.

This book on sourdough cooking is well written and goes into some of the historical facts related to the history of sourdough. The recipes are very good and also several of them suggest the use of conventional yeast to speed the rising process without sacrificing the wonderful flavor of the sourdough starter.
I was looking for a sourdough starter recipe and sourdough recipes without using yeast and this book calls for yeast. It doesn’t make sense.
