    Dish VIP222K two-room receiver

Terrific high-def receiver provides independent Dish channel selection in 2 rooms. If you plug the MT2 OTA receiver into it (very easy to do), you get all local channels (including sub-channels like 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3) off a standard antenna and have NO NEED TO PAY for the Dish local channels pack via satellite. It is also without DVR, so NO NEED TO PAY the DVR charge. If you want to record, just run the 222K signal through a DVD-burner in either of the 2 rooms. Dish is trying to push these out of service to push up their billing, and local installers may say they can't install them. BS. I called Dish corporate, ordered the channel package I wanted, told them they were going to use my receiver, and they had an installer out in 2 days. And - the receiver is mine and not on some kind ...

  • DISH Network VIP 222 Receive

I received the receiver as listed, still sealed in the box. I initially connected it to my existing Dish 500 system and it proceeded to download several updates. Afterward, a screen appeared indicating this was a replacement receiver and I needed to call Dish network to activate. My previous experience with receivers allowed viewing the "barker" channel to at least verify all was well. After replacing the 500 series dish with the 1000.2, I called Dish to authorize the receiver. After almost an hour arguing with the CSR that I indeed had a 1000.2 system (they insisted I had a 500 and would not activate HD), I finally was able to test the features of the receiver. I like everything about it especially since my wife was able to use it almost immediately with very little instruction.

  • No contract receiver...

Looks real good, not a contract receiver I love that, had no problem adding to my dish account, only one thing thou, the hdmi port have a little short other than it works wonderful...

  • Great Receivers

I purchased two of these receivers while transitioning all my televisions to HD. The ViP 222k has proven to be a great value while providing excellent performance. If I had to point out one negative thing, it would be that it does not handle IR interference for TV2 reception well. Stray IR waves from larger LCD TVs can render the remote control functions for TV2 inoperable, and steps such as placing a strip of painters tape over the receiver's remote window mat be the only remedy. Overall, the ViP 222k is well worth the investment.

  • Slightly Misleading

I bought the 222k because I was led to believe it had DVR capabilities, it does not. The receiver is large and bulky. The video image is fine but the program guide is the lowest resolution imaginable.
