I was thinking it took 9v battery so I removed the underside plate to put one in but this pedal does not use a battery, it usrs a plug-in which was not inluded. So I went and bought one (go me!) .

    BOSS is the BEST!

    You can get every pedal in the world and BOSS is just going to tear them up and be the ones you want to go back to. The BOSS ml-2 is simply that distortion pedal you are looking for to carry you over the top in sustaining notes feeling like you're playing on butter, yet ripping that growling crunching chug you want to push thru the mix. Try using it also with a overdrive pedal and turning the ml2 distortion level down to about 7.5. Then use the overdrive to kick it back in for your leads. It truly out does the metal zone even thru the effects loop as I run the mt-2. Buy this bad boy! You will not regret it!

    Metal Core Tone

    You can set this to play friendly even in front of an overdriven amp. You can run into clean and get an amazing metal tone, then switch to overdriven, and get a mid-boost smooth sustaining tone. I love this pedal.

    Boss goes thick and deep with this one!

    The Heaviest and crunchiest Boss pedal. If you play heavy music you should give the Metal Core a shot. It's on my board now and not it's going anywhere any time soon.
