About this product

Product Information

Some say he was the greatest warrior in history, building an empire that extended from Europe to Africa and on to India and Central Asia. In a stirring narrative, famed historian John Gunther tells the story of Alexander the Great who, at only age 21, became King of Macedonia and set off on a 12-year journey to conquer the known world and extend the boundaries of Greek civilization. Gunther takes us from Alexander's boyhood to his victory over the Persian Empire, and, in vivid detail, describes Alexander's battles, as well as the palace intrigues that surrounded him.

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is even better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. All in all I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you and be safe. Good luck to the future.

  • SHORTENED VERSION OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT

This is a very short version of the life and times of Alexander the Great. Much more could have been written about him. Some parts of the book are mere conjecture. The author does have some knowledge about Alexander, and the price of the book is right on ebay. It is a decent summarized book about the subject matter. For the price, I would have to list the book as a good buy on ebay. Larry Carli

  • Alexander--Win the Battle if You Can

I've played this game many times, and there is a very strong tendency for the Persians to win the battle--not surprising, given that the Persian player will not have to deal with the treachery of Mazaeus, who took his cavalry out of the main battle and was rewarded by Alexander with the governorship of Babylon. Without treachery, the Persian cavalry is usually strong enough to punch through Alexander's left wing and hit the phalanx from the rear. The Macedonian player's best chance is to move up the phalanx as quickly as possible and then do what Alexander actually did--take his heavy cavalry (Royal Companions and Lancers) and punch through the Persians' left wing.
