The city of sin is under siege from terrorists, and it's up to the talented Rainbow Six team to take them out. The follow-up to 2007's acclaimed squad-based shooter emphasizes new customization features and refined play mechanics. Vegas 2's storyline runs concurrently to the first game's story, so a new team is now playable. The leader's name is Bishop, who can be created as a male or female operative with a choice of gear and weapons. One of the game's biggest enhancements is an expansion of the "Persistent Elite Creation" concept from earlier titles. Now players can level up their characters throughout any of the available play modes. Similar to the online component in Call of Duty 4, players receive experience points by performing actions, completing objectives, and achieving victories. Killing terrorists, for example, or simply reaching a checkpoint earns characters experience, represented on a meter in the heads-up display. Once the meter is filled, players will advance in rank and receive new gear. Other ways of earning equipment include specializing in specific combat techniques. This A.C.E.S. system (Advanced Combat Enhancement Specialization) gives rewards for skills in three areas: close quarters, assault, and marksmanship. Players who make long-distance kills or headshots will earn points in the marksmanship category, which can unlock specific weapons like sniper rifles or assault rifles. Points are also earned for making kills while holding onto a rope, taking out multiple targets at once, using flash bangs, and so forth. Everything unlocked in one mode can be used in the others. Since the story takes place during the first game's time frame, players will explore different parts of the city, taking the fight on rooftops, through back alleys, across residential areas, within a strip club, inside the Las Vegas Convention Center, and more. Up to 14 players (16 on a dedicated server) can compete online in one of seven modes. New to Vegas 2 are the following formats: Team Leader, Total Conquest, and Demolition. Team Leader involves hunting down and killing the rival squad's designated leader while the other side attempts to do the same. Total Conquest has teams capturing and holding three satellite transmitters until time expires, while Demolition has one side trying to detonate a bomb as the other tries to defuse it. Other online improvements include faster loading times, more host control options, and the ability to save up to four weapon profiles. The limited edition version of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 includes the following bonus features: video footage of tips and tricks from professional gamers and members of the Frag Dolls; a "day in the life" video of a professional gamer; highlights from Major League Gaming's 2007 season; a collectible keychain in the shape of a poker chip; and an exclusive look at Tom Clancy's EndWar.

Gameplay: 9.0 The gameplay elements aren’t too hugely different from last year’s game, but still hold up quite nicely, and the new moves are implemented well and important to the gameplay. Graphics: 9.0 As an Unreal Engine 3 game, Vegas 2 doesn’t look too shabby. The environments are well-rendered and feature some amazing lighting effects, and the character models look very good. Sound: 9.0 Great voice acting, sharp effects, and a great score line this one out. Difficulty: Medium Concept: 9.0 While the gameplay isn’t too terribly different from the original Vegas, the story elements wrap up the saga very well, making it a compelling mission to undertake. Superb first person shooter
Having played/own the full "Medal of Honor", "Halo", and "Call of Duty" series, plus the original "Rainbow Six: Vegas" I had to try out the new RSV2, it did not disappoint. It is set in a modern, "real world" setting; a great break from WWII battlefields. I was able to create my own character (the option of creating a female character was great!). The game's controls are well laid out, and you can adjust the sensitivity of your controller via the game's custom settings. The game's surround sound is great...you can hear the bad guy's voices and literally follow the sounds to their locations...it's also handy for when you are being shot at, or having grenades tossed your way. The video quality is tops also. I have my Xbox 360 on HD settings and running into my projector, so if a game's ... You can see light glinting off reflections in the water. Great attention to detail! Also worth mentioning is the ability to play the game in co-op mode. Your friends can join in and play along side you in story mode, as well as the "terrorist hunt" option. Of course you have the standard Vs. mayhem, as well as online play. Game play: much like "MOH: Airborne", and "COD 4", the maps are open, allowing you to pick your route of assault. Of course there are some choke points that you have to fight your way thru, but many times you have an option of either taking the stairs, multiple entry points (doors), or rappelling in thru the windows...what ever style suits you best. You are in command of two other guys, who do an excellent job of watching your six (backside). You can go in sneaky stealthy, or full on auto assault. Your teammates do an excellent job of breaching and clearing rooms. Plus they are pretty good at holding their own, so you can send them forward to see if any enemy pops up, thus becoming easy targets for you to snipe. Or, if you insist on being the lone wolf, you can have them follow you and just watch your six...but the AI is on point and these guys do help you; they are very good shots and have unlimited ammo. Plus, if you have a mic/headset, you an verbally order them vs. having to push buttons. This came in handy a couple of times when my hands were already full trying to doge shotguns and grenades. I was surprised to find myself wishing I had them in later missions where you have to go at it solo. RSV2 has a pretty cool rewards program called ACES. At first I was a little skeptical, but it's won me over. There are three categories: Marksman, Close Quarters, and Assault. By performing certain actions, you "level up" each category. As you level up, you unlock new weapons and gain XP (experience points). As you build XP, you get promoted. As you get promoted, you get all sorts of cool new clothes, gear, guns, and gadgets. As an Army officer who always said, "As a pilot, I'll never use infantry tactics, clear buildings, or do any of this FM 7-8 stuff," now I can put all of that Ft. Benning training to good use, playing video games.

Excellent game!
This game was very fun to play. Counter Strike used to be my favorite game, and this is very similar. I love how this game uses more tactics than other FPS games. You can hug walls, blind fire around corners, rapel down ropes, and do so many fun things. The artificial intelligence built into the computer players in this game is awesome. The game is dynamic so if you play it multiple times, the bad guys are in different locations with different guns. Online play is great as well. There's a huge following for this game, even though it's years past it's release date. I highly recommend this game to anyone that is into FPS games!This game was very fun to play. One of the best games of 2008
Ok, this game is crazy, anyone a fan of the Tom Clancy Series, or fps in general should check this out. It instantly puts you in cinamatic like action with the tutorial that is easy to pick up. the only down I have to this game is that it is basically Rainbow Six Vegas 1. If your looking for a truley different experience, you wont really find it here, except for a new point reward system. If you loved the origional than you will definately be in heaven with this title, but if you were not a fan of the first, there is not much difference. A Must-Have Tactical Shooter for the XBOX
I rented R6V2 when it first came out and fell in love with it so much that I bought it soon after. I traded my first copy in a one point - what a mistake. I recently bought the game again and have not regretted it in the least. The co-op campaign and terrorist hunt modes are solid fun. On-line multiplayer is a blast. This game is a fun experience alone, with a friend, or with the XBOX Live community. The variety of weapons, armors, clothing, and colors combined with the option to paste your own face on your in-game character extremely customizable. I recommend this game without reservation!I rented R6V2 when it first came out and fell in love with it so much that I bought it soon after. I traded my first copy in a one point - what a mistake.
