I love trains and mysteries. Though this is billed as the Streamline Express, you'd think the train was a high-speed train of the 1940s. Actually, it was a super-streamlined single-car monorail, built extra wide and with two stories or more. Okay, so there were not powerful steam locomotives. The idea was that the streamliner would join New York and California in 20 hours, travelling at 160 mph. And there were no stops between. I didn't do the math, but I suspect that even at that speed, 20 hours was really wishful thinking. In any case, the story revolved around jilted lovers, the theater, jewel thieves, alcoholics, husbands caught cheating on their wives and a little light-heartedness thrown in. If you like happy endings, that suits the bill. But it's not for hard core railroad fans, that's for sure.Read full review
