    Shine - Music from Joni Mitchell in 2007 that Highlights Her Vocal and Instrumental Art

    This is not the Joni Mitchell of the 1960's and 70's or Joni during her days with most of the L.A. Express as her backup band or Jaco, for that matter. It is an older, reflective Joni featuring some complex stacked vocals with a few really sparse but lush arrangements. It features her excellent piano work along with some alternate guitar tunings that she has always been known for. I'm not a critic or a reviewer; I'm just a musician who has always appreciated Joni's artistry and immense talent.

    Joni Mitchell finds her way back....

    Great return from one of very best adult artists from the past 40 years. Joni Mitchell has returned from her self proclaimed "retirement" from recording music but shes doing this her way(thanks to Starbucks) Self produced(with help from ex-hubby Larry Klein), "Shine" is another muscial gem full of what we come to expect from Joni Mitchell)"Night Ride Home", "Turbulent Indigo", & "Taming the Tiger". Nice piano touches and of course the horns. She writes about injustice, the war and our ever threatened planet Earth but these songs come across with a dose of longing & loss but with some hope and makes these beautiful songs and arrangements so much easier to take in.     A must have for any Joni Mitchell fan

    A new fan to Joni Mitchell. I find her generally sparse arrangements play to her vocal strengths. This is a fine album from a mature woman who hasn't lost her singing capabilities. As usual her musicianship is first class. A worthwhile purchase from one of the masters.
