I've been a fan of Pure Prairie League for some time, even named my youngest daughter Amy. This band has been around for a long time...Early '70s...and they have changed the lineup several times. I think their best albums were the early ones, the ones recorded by Craig Fuller, George Powell, Jim Lanham, Jim Caughlan, and John David Call. I would describe the style of those early albums as 'Rock with a twist of Country', or 'Country Rock'. As they have evolved, the subsequent lineups have changed the style of the music; I would describe the new stuff as Full Country. Personally, I like the earlier style better than what the band evolved into. To get the flavor of the original Pure Prairie League, you need to get their first three albums: the self-titled 'Pure Prairie League', 'Bustin' Out', and 'Two Lane Highway'. It should be pointed out that subsequent albums, such as this one, often labelled 'Best of Pure Prairie League', 'Greatest Hits of Pure Prairie League' or something similar, are the best or the greatest, largely because they contain songs from the first three albums. I hope I have not offended fans of the more Country-style music the band plays now; that was not my intent.Read full review
