    Nice low-cost upgrade for an older system.

    Nice upgrade for my new (to me) old Dell Vostro 200. It had an E6550 (2.33GHz/4M L2) in it to begin with. Seems about 15-20% faster than the old chip. I'm not noticing any difference between 3M and 4M cache for the things I run. I'm sure it would have been a bigger upgrade had the machine started with a lesser CPU, but as it stands this is nice. Couldn't have been easier to install. Love the fact that intel dropped pinned packages with this socket - no more bent/broken pins! I only wish my motherboard supported a quad! Oh well. While not THE fastest dual core, it's still 90% of the speed of the fastest ones, cost me a quarter of what they would have, and it might even overclock assuming it can hold 3.5GHz. I haven't tried yet.

    e7400 overclocks very well

    In a Gigabyte P35 motherboard with 4GB (2x2)G.Skill DDR2 1066 memory and a Scythe Ninja 2 rev. B cooler this CPU runs perfect at 3.5 GHz on 1.3v and will even clock at 3.6 GHz with a higher voltage. Idles at 40ºC with included thermal compound or 39ºC with Arctic Silver and testing at 100% load on both cores with the Intel Burn Test utility it does get hot reaching 73ºC after 5 minutes. Under normal Windows use it runs at approx. 45ºC and gaming pushes it into the mid to upper 50ºC temp range at 3.5 GHz but with an Antec case with both front and back 120mm fans, a 600 watt Seasonic power supply, and a Radeon 4850 GPU the e7400 provides a very fast and smooth ride for Windows XP Pro SP2. Only wish I could get an 8000 series Intel cpu for these prices.

    A must have for medium sized and aging systems.

    Before this upgrade I had the E2160 CPU. System was continuously struggling, I upgraded the RAM but still... After checking my motherboard's compatibility list and adjusting my budget I upgraded to E7400. Impact on system is stunning! Performance is like Day and Night. If your board is compatible, it really helps you revive your aging system.
