Reviews
"Plame spent a courageous and honorable career on the front lines of terrorism only to come home and meet the ultimate betrayal, her own country -- unethical politicians and unscrupulous journalists. Plame's story is a modern odyssey, a cautionary tale that should make Americans think twice before sacrificing their patriots."-- Lobert Baer, Former CIA Case Officer and the author ofSee No EvilandSleeping With The Devil, "Among the risks faced by men and women who volunteer to serve in our intelligence services are those which derive from American politics. This story shows us how strong the desire to serve can be and how treacherous the risks are in the minefields of Washington. Valerie Wilson volunteered at the height of the cold war. She expected to be betrayed by our enemies, not us."-- Bob Kerrey, Former U.S. Senator and Vice Chairman, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, "Fair Game-- which takes its title from Karl Rove's phrase about the legitimacy of blowing Ms. Wilson's professional camouflage -- describes how intense stress wrought havoc on the Wilsons' marriage, not to mention Ms. Wilson's state of mind....[And] she powerfully evokes the disbelief, fury and uncharacteristic terror that came with being outed. "--The New York Times, "Plame had a front-row seat on both the politicization of pre-war intelligence and White House efforts to stem post-invasion criticism....[She] can be viewed as a canary in the proverbial coal mine, and her book reads like a grim testament to the noxious atmosphere of our current politics."--The Boston Globe, "...Plame's own account of her life reveals her as a patriotic true believer in the CIA and its mission. "--Los Angeles Times

I ordered 2 books from this seller; this one was exactly as described and in good condition. The other is even better, but covered in other feedback. I would say that this seller's books are in better condition than other online used bookstores for the same price. The books were well wrapped, again better than other online used bookstores. Shipping was free which is always a plus. The books came quickly considering sometimes roads are closed due to high winds here. Very happy with purchase!

  • Life happens ~ it's what you learn from it and do that makes it a success.

Having had a 25 yr. career in an almost all male industry ~ computer technology ~ I was most interested in hearing her work experience. But, because of the restrictions by the gov't, it's a frustrating story to read. So much is blacked out that it does lose the continuity of the story for me. And I'm continually trying to figure out what was said in the black spaces. I've not finished with it yet, but I do get the betrayl part. It was worth the book second hand, but had I paid full price, I'd have felt cheated ~ if I hadn't seen the blackout "issue" first. As a female, I do appreciate the lack of "whining and complaining" that some females feel they have the "right" to speak. Looking forward to hearing that she's put it into perspective and moved on with her life ~ creating a new "life" ...

  • A Book For The Times

Valerie Plame is a complex individual of national significance. Her experiences as a team member protecting the security of our country and her betrayal by the vengeful executive branch of our United States government make for a civics lesson that no citizen of the U.S. can afford to miss. Clearly, the C.I.A. has overreacted with their extensive redaction. However, even the redactions are informative and alarming to those who patriotically support the Constitution of this once-great country.

  • Excellent Book and more to come very soon, NOT!!!

Only wish FOI was sooner than later. Way to much 'missing information' for a book to be considered complete. I only hope that the 'Agency' and our government will allow more information to filter out soon, and not make everyone wait 100 years for the rest of the story. (Somewhat like the Warren report).

  • Interesting

You will learn what crooked and awful politicians we have.

  • Fair Game is great!

Very interesting to try to guess what it says under the censorship bars! I got a signed copy obviously fresh from one of her speaking appearances... including the program... so it is a great piece of historical memorabilia.
