Product Information

The Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro Digital Recording Interface packs an unbelievable amount of functionality into a small unit that is USB-powered and fully MIDI compatible. There are a number of input and output options on the Mbox 2, including two analog inputs and two analog outputs in addition to two separate channels of digital input and output. The interface also provides MIDI I/O, and the virtual instruments that come factory installed will enhance recording and unlock your creativity. Creating beats is simple with the interface's Boom drum machine and sequencer. Condenser microphones, the standard for quality recording, can be used with no problems thanks to the Mbox 2’s 48V phantom power. Once your tracks are recorded, you can mix them professionally with the onboard effects that include chorus, delay, reverb, and three separate EQ options.

    Not pro

    Everyone lists the usb mbox on ebay as the pro. The pro version is firewire. How are there so many stupid people that dont even know what interface they are using/ selling? This generation of interfaces works fine. Sounds fine and is a great way to learn protools. When u decide to charge for studio time you must upgrade.

    review

    i have been using this in college and find it very user friendly. the choice of plug ins and effects are second to none. i started off as a complete novice and within a few weeks i am able to understand and use most of the effects withi=out a problem. the quality of the product is very good. the only fault with it is you can only record two audios at a time. i knew this before hand. anything with more inserts are to pricey, value for money can be got on all these interfaces if you shop around suppliers on ebay. you will need a good bit or ram space on your computer or laptop to run the programme as the plug ins can require this. but dont worry about that, its great to have these plug ins and effects included as you can do so much with them.

    Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro Digital Recording Interface

    I am "attempting" to record an original song written by me for my family. The mbox was refferd to me by an up and coming music producer who felt that this item would serve me best because for just "getting started". The mbox is simple, but very useful/versitile. It can perform all needed functions when it comes to music recording. There are plenty of software that accompanies the mbox that aslo facilitates easy work and editing.

    Hi Freq Noise Issue

    This is a great way to get into Pro Tools without spending a lot of $$. There is an issue I have seen a lot on the internet which I also discovered - a high frequency noise when the box is activated. It comes out the audio out ports and is a definite no-no on your audio tracks. I saw a video on UTube advocating soldering a ground wire to the circuit board. I recommend that you do not do this. There is a reason why audio circuits are isolated from ground - it improves the signal to noise ratio. If you ground the audio circuit you will decrease your audio performance. The real issue with the mbox is a ground loop issue. I had the problem initially on this box because my computer which powered the box was connected directly to the wall circuit while my audio was going through an amp ...

    Can't say yet

    I am pleased with this purchase, still upgrading the computer stuff to run pro tools le8. Minimum of 4 gig ram. Runs on xp-pro and needed to buy a desktop made to run the program. Pro tools is a great recording daw but finicky sometimes. Eats a lot of computer memory and the Creative collection and midi / loops stuff have needed more than 2 gigs ( won't open, computer crashed ?. Still workin on it though. I like this product but it does require a little assembly. I am running "7 ultimate " and still can't download using compatibility wizard. signed, relentless to record
