The plot revolves around the pitiful struggles of this woman as she strives to raise her children in extreme poverty, her husband is away from home fighting the war. Directed by Gillian Armstrong, this engrossing film features a star-studded cast that includes Winona Ryder, starring as the unpredictable daughter Jo, Kirsten Dunst as beautiful Amy, and Claire Danes playing the role of altruistic Beth.

    Title reflects the title of the book--apropo.

    I preferred this version of the movie because the story and actors were more suited to my liking. The purchase was intended to entertain. Was not looking for compelling content. Hard to speak of value since this is very old technology and the casing was damaged even though it was described as "brand new". Saw a "like new" dvd that appeared on the site later for about the same cost. Would have purchased it instead if I had seen it first.
