About this product

Product Information

After years of swiping scenes from the leading men in such movies as KNOCKED UP and THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN, Paul Rudd finally headlines a star vehicle of his own. Unlike those Judd Apatow productions, it's John Hamburg (ALONG CAME POLLY) who directs I LOVE YOU, MAN, albeit with many of the touchstones of Apatow's highly successful freaks-and-geeks-with-heart aesthetic. In other words, this is not an Apatow film, but, with the male capacity for--and simultaneous inability to express--fraternal love as its core comic conceit (and emotional centerpiece), it may as well be.Rudd plays Peter Klaven, a real estate agent with a blossoming career and an imminent marriage to Zooey (THE OFFICE's Rashida Jones)--basically, he's lucky in all things except male bonding. The narrative arc centers on his quest for platonic man-love--as opposed to, say, finding the girl of his dreams--and follows the boilerplate dictates of a standard rom-com with a subversive wink. In this case, boy meets boy, boys bond over their common love of Rush and Andre the Giant, boys break up and make up, etc. Rudd and co-star Jason Segel (FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL), a fellow Apatow alum who plays Sydney Fife, the Type B object of Klaven's affection, imbue their roles with winning charisma and elevate the plot with real and nuanced chemistry. With a whip-smart pace, the film continually tills fresh comic ground as Hamburg finds punctuation points in every scene and never lets a gag overstay its welcome. While the supporting cast features many memorable turns by the likes of Jon Favreau, Jaime Pressly, and Andy Samberg, I LOVE YOU, MAN ultimately belongs to Rudd, who approaches insecurity and social awkwardness with the same dead-eye marksmanship that Peter Sellers did for slapstick.

  • I Love You, Man

Engaged to the woman of his dreams yet uncomfortable with the prospect of not having a best man for his upcoming wedding, a successful real estate agent with no male friends schedules a series of "man dates" in hopes of finding a suitable candidate for the big day. Peter Klaven is just like most other guys, only when it comes to making friends he's always been a bit withdrawn. After proposing to his girlfriend Zooey, Peter quickly realizes that he doesn't even have any friends close enough to qualify for the role of best man. "I Love You, Man" is a good story on friendship, and what makes friendship tick. For that and its healthy dose of comedy that delivers what it sets out to do.

  • Funny funny movie, Enjoy this one with friends

Paul Rudd (Over Her Dead Body, Knocked Up and more) stars in this funny comedy as Peter Klaven, who just got engaged to Zooey a stunning beauty played by Rashida Jones. Peter does not have any friends that he can invite to the wedding so he sets out to find a Best Man to take to the wedding. what ensues is a search for a 'guy' friend and it is funny in every sense of the word. Rudd does a great job in his own way in this film and seems to be establishing himself as a lead comedy actor. Don't miss this one if you want a good laugh. Rated 4 of 5 for a very funny movie that anyone would enjoy watching.

  • great

Thanks for checking out our I Love You Man review. If you’d like to watch the video version of our I Love You Man review you can see it at the bottom of the written review. I’ve been a huge Paul Rudd fan for years now. We’ve all recognized him forever from a thousand different things. Josh on Clueless or Phoebe’s boyfriend Mike on Friends. But the moment I finally recognized his comedic genius was in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy where he played news reporter Brian Fantana. Oh yes my friends… Sex Panther, 60% of the time it works, every time. Jason Segel is another story. When I saw him in Knocked Up, I recognized him from a few episodes of CSI, but neither his role in that, nor in Knocked Up impressed me at all. To be honest I sorta thought he was dead weight in an otherwise ...

  • I Love You Man

Pull Rudd has been an up and coming actor in the past few years and he finally gets to shine as the star of the unconventionally comedic "I Love You Man." In his past roles (40 Year Old Virgin, Anchorman) he has always the sort of "side character" that always has a bit of reason amongst the ridiculousness surrounding the story. Now that characteristic is presented in a funny way of it's own, his awkwardness comes center stage and he bursts out on the scene as another comedic talent of this decade. Highly recommend this movie. Funny, but not too stupid.

  • I Love You, Man, a comedy from John Hamburg (2009)

In I Love You, Man, a comedy from John Hamburg (Along Came Polly, co-writer of Meet The Parents, Meet The Fockers, Zoolander), Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd, Knocked Up The 40 Year Old Virgin) is a successful real estate agent who, upon getting engaged to the woman of his dreams, Zooey, (The Offices Rashida Jones), discovers, to his dismay and chagrin, that he has no male friend close enough to serve as his Best Man. Peter immediately sets out to rectify the situation, embarking on a series of bizarre and awkward man-dates, before meeting Sydney Fife (Jason Segel, Forgetting Sarah Marshall), a charming, opinionated man with whom he instantly bonds. But the closer the two men get, the more Peters relationship with Zooey suffers, ultimately forcing him to choose between his fiancée and his new ...
