About this product

Product Information

With the insight, humor, and compassion we have come to expect from her, Maeve Binchy tells a story of family, friends, patients, and staff who are part of a heart clinic in a community caught between the old and the new Ireland. Dr. Clara Casey has been offered the thankless job of establishing the underfunded clinic and agrees to take it on for a year. She has plenty on her plate already-two difficult adult daughters and the unwanted attentions of her ex-husband-but she assembles a wonderfully diverse staff devoted to helping their demanding, often difficult patients. Before long the clinic is established as an essential part of the community, and Clara must decide whether or not to leave a place where lives are saved, courage is rewarded, and humor and optimism triumph over greed and self-pity. Heart and Soul is Maeve Binchy at her storytelling best. From the Hardcover edition.

I ordered 2 books from this seller; this one was exactly as described and in good condition. The other is even better, but covered in other feedback. I would say that this seller's books are in better condition than other online used bookstores for the same price. The books were well wrapped, again better than other online used bookstores. Shipping was free which is always a plus. The books came quickly considering sometimes roads are closed due to high winds here. Very happy with purchase!

  • Heart and Soul by Maeve Binchy

Once again Maeve Binchy has out done herself! Her books leads you into the lives of her characters in Dublin and rural Ireland. From page one you become weaved into their lives as if you belonged there. You are not able to put the book down as you laugh and cry with them. When the story ends, you are the one crying, waiting for her to come out with another. So once again you can be sweep up in Binchy's magic of taking you away. She is by far one of our one of the best writer's of our century! I learned of her writings from a tour guide on a trip to Ireland.

  • Another brilliant storytelling. Couldn't put it down.

Maeve at her best. This book ties in past places and characters from other books. Nice to read about familiar stories. I find that Maeve writes about human weakness and fears that most of us have had, but she always ends on a note of strength and hope for something better than what was started with. Her characters all have flaws and are always in some sort of search for meaning. Not always searching for happiness, but for peace of mind. Aren't we all.

  • Wonderful Story - Warm Hearted!

Maeve Binchy has woven together a wonderful tapestry of a story of people in today's Ireland, with new characters from this book woven back and forth with characters from other books. While everyone goes through all kinds of bad life experiences, all of them come out on the bright side. Recommended highly.

  • Heart and Soul by Maeve Binchy (2009, Hardcover)

My husband purchased this book for me. I was totally surprised, He knows I have all the books Maeve Binchy wrote, and I enjoy all of her unique writings. Her books don’t have all the sex or blood and guts that seem to attract other readers. Her books are filled with real down to earth experiences. If you enjoy this kind of reading then these are the books for you.
