Great Strings Overall
In my Hofner, round wound strings, which were "accidentally" put on when I had it set up by my now-former luthier, sounded far too bright and really destroyed the rich, woody tone that I bought it for. These flat wounds eliminate that issue and provide me with all of the tones that I bought the instrument for in the first place.

Great product for the Hofner contemporary bass.
The strings have great tone and are excellent for the Hofner contemporary bass, but they do not fit the Hofner violin bass tailpiece; they will not work on the violin bass.

Better than the factory installed Hofner strings
The fresh new set of strings replaced the strings that came on my new Hofner Club bass. The original strings had a dead E string. The new set sounded a lot better, but still the E string was not quite what I would call great. I was starting to think it was the bass, but decided to try some Labella Flatwound "Beatle Bass" strings. Home run!! The Hofner strings will do, but I like the Labellas for their clearer brighter sound, their E string sounds MUCH more intune,IMHO. I am not going back to the Hofner strings, but I kept them as spares. The fresh new set of strings replaced the strings that came on my new Hofner Club bass. The original strings had a dead E string.
