Arcade Racer. There are no fancy tweaking settings or car tweaking, just pick a car, the one with four bald tires, the spray-painted number "8" and thats it. Starting off the game, it begins kind of easy, the race is fast you have the option of manual transmission or automatic transmission. The difference is the auto is easy and tends to help when turning sharp corners and rather than fiddling around with gear shifting and slowing down, auto is quick. However, manual transmission offers a higher performance, faster and better handling around curvers, that is if you can get the hang of it. The cars are fast, there are no crashes, no cars flipping over and crashing. But there are glitches, if you swerve around recklessly and hit something, such as a guardrail, you will fly ahead or if someone hits you from behind, your car will jump a hundred feet ahead, sometimes, sliding in the air, or powersliding a finishing lead. This glitch might come in handy once you get the hang of it (ford focus worked for me) and the game uses it too. Works both offline and online. 1. One. The game is fast, cars are fast, non-stop. 2. Two. Because the game is fast and if your in the front and you slow down, in seconds you will be last 3. Three. Higher the race level, the more magical your opponents become. In one race, I was beaten by a sliding car going sideways to the finish line. It slid sideways on two curves and passed me, made another curve and magically hopped to the finish line. 4. Four. The track is designed to inhibit your progress, tire grabbing mud puddles, rocks, everything is designed to impede the player not the game opponents. 5. Multiplayer is few, lacking, thankfully the online achievements are few but require lots of time... waiting for someone else to join or waiting for someone to host a game.Read full review
Sega rally revo is a really great game for the price right now. My copy cost $11 shipped brand new. This is the way to buy it if you can find it in my opinion. I've read up on this game on the internet and some rally race fans seem prefer this game over games like dirt and dirt 2 for the Xbox 360 simply because of this having a higher fun factor. If your looking for a simulation type racing game this isn't really one of those though. I would expect the dirt titles to try to cater more to that type of racing style. This is an arcade style racer that's focused on nice visuals, great looking environments and really excellent vehicle control feel. There's some criticism of this game for not having the latest or best looking textures on the cars. This could be just because the game has been out for over two years by now so that should be expected. I didn't feel this detracted from the games experience at all though. To me the tracks all look really great and make you feel like your really there, driving a car through a muddy tropical forest or chilly snow covered track in Norway or wherever its supposed to be. The tracks also deform and leave groves where the cars drive past that effect the handling of the other cars that drive over them. I haven't seen this effect used in any other racing games I've played and think its really neat. I also love the graphics effects of mud, snow and dust clinging to the cars as you race. These effects just look really good and are really well done. If I have any gripe about this game its that there aren't enough present control schemes (there's 2 in all) and this sorta prevented me from having my upshift/downshift buttons where I like them. This is just a tiny gripe though because I just had to get used to where the shift buttons are. I did try to play an online match of this game after I bought it and I gotta say the population playing this online is pretty barren. I was still able to enjoy an online match a few times with one or two players when the wasn't lobby empty though.. which was SWEET!!!!!! so to conclude my review of sega really revo I'm saying BUY IT! BUY THIS GAME!! you wont or really shouldn't be disappointed. For the price this game is a true gem that any rally or racing fans could appreciate.. and this is coming from a pretty avid fan of the racing genre among others.Read full review
I rate this game a 5 because the game is fun and the tracks are colorful. You're racing in these neat locations under the best possible conditions. I think that people who just played the demo really got the wrong impression of this game because the tracks in the demo were some of my least favorite tracks. I like the inland Tropical tracks where you don't see the ocean. There are 20 different tracks in this game. You can get more control of the car if you master the manual setup. I bought a Logitech DriveFX steering wheel to play this game and Dirt with. It's really fun to play with, but I get faster times using the standard controller.
