Now, this is what you call, a game for the 7800. Ikari Warriors, this is one of the rarest games for the system, produced by Atari. This game is very close to the arcade original. You play as one of the Ikari warrior and your mission is to save the colonel from the deep inside the jungle filled with enemies, mines, bunkers, and bridges. You start off by the plane crashing into the island. Then the action starts. The gameplay is great, you shoot and throw gernades at the enemies and their bases. You also grab a tank in some parts and blow stuff up with it, but watch the fuel meter if it's empty you have to get out for a few seconds or else you blow up with it. Helicopters come later on in the game around the water areas. You start out with three lives, and you get an extra life for 20,000 points. The controls are solid, the analog moves around, left button shoots, and right button throws gernades, and get inside tanks. Inside the tank holding down the right button aims at a direction you want to shoot. The left button fires a cannon at the enemies, and pressing both buttons lets you get out a tank, that's all for the controls. The music is nothing special, the sound effects is okay, and the music resembles quite well to the arcade. Lastly, the graphics, they're actually very good for the Atari 7800 standards, especially in 1990. Ovrall, this is a great game and I highly reccomend it for serious collectors, and the SNK fans. Difficulty is nicely balanced, and the only problem for this is the price, I was very lucky to get this for $9.77, the other copys you usually find here are around $60.00-$100.00 here on ebay. Try to find the best deal for the Ikari Warriors for the 7800, like I did. Fun fact: the cartridge itself is made in 1989, while the box and manual both were made in 1990. Kinda strange, but I think it's interesting. Maybe its a mix up like Atari did in Ninja Golf which is also for the 7800. The rarity for this game is a 6 Rare+ at atariage website.Read full review
