Cool, I like it, but if you want close to optimal, you'll have to pull a trick.

Don't mean to be rude, but in the real deal, you don't want your microphones to be this light .. sounds crazy maybe, but thin, light materials store up sonic energy and resonate, and that damages transient response. To test this out the easy way, just speak into the mic holding it loosly and then speak into it holding the mic tightly in grip. In tight grip this mic sounds noticeably more crisp. Having serious intentions, I solved this by coating the inside of the aluminum tube with a combination of paper tissue and water putty which about doubled the weight of the alu tube. .. Don't get me wrong, the mic is cool without doing this, but 15 cents of water putty and 5 cents of paper tissue will make it perform like a substantially more expensive mic. Alu. is probably not the best ...

Junk - fell apart after 3 months

Looks good and professional and was easy to hook up to my PC's external sound card. with the "screen" attached the recording quality was horrendous! Better without it, but it was NOT even close a true representation of what the ACTUAL sound was REALLY like (in this case, a saxophone). Then, after three months, the thing started to literally disintegrate! The support cradle around the mic fell apart; the clip that secures the cable top the input at the back of the mic broke making it useless.............Chinese Junk!

  • Rockville RCM02 a little more than what you paid for!

I normally record with a bluebird microphone by Blue. I have found nothing to be better even in the higher-priced microphones when coupled with the right preamp. I'm a sound engineer by trade so I know quite a bit about the subject. That being said this was a very honest sounding microphone. A little heavy on the high end and lacking a bit of warmth but was able to fix that with a bit of EQ and mic modeling through post processors. my only real complaint about the microphone is that the stock is very lightweight and it is prone to picking up noises and harmonic vibrations so I unscrew the bottom p stand in the cylinder that surrounds the microphone amplifier for phantom power I added some sound deadening. It was something similar to Dynamat that's used in vehicles Just Not That Brand. Once ...

  • Nice entry level mic

I bought this for simple "voice recordings." The sound quality is not professional. If you record in a home studio, you will have to do some post production. After recording through a USB direct box, with no effects, you will notice the mid's are very "raw" sounding and their really aren't many "highs".... the "lows" are average. However, once you compress and equalize what you recorded in your DAW, you can get a somewhat professional sound out of this mic. The pop filter doesn't work very well because it is only fractions of an inch away from the mic screen. If you purchase one of these, you may want to put a sock over the mic head. That's what worked for me. It's a great value for the price. This phantom powered mic sounds better than a Shure Beta 58 and 58A, but it's not as rugged as ...

  • Excellent value!

For my application, this is a tremendous mic package! Outstanding quality, both cosmetically, and functionally. It has drawn a lot of attention from people that have seen it.
