The improvement greatly outweighs the price.
I have a Hofner Contemporary HCT 500/1 Violin bass. It came equipped with the cheaply made Chinese controls. The difference with the German made controls, they are what is standard on all German made a Hofner basses. The sound was a big improvement. I get a fuller, clearer response. Swapping out was quick and easy, providing you are skilled with a soldering gun. There are just 5 wires to solder . (2 for each pickup and the tailpiece ground.) pictured is my Contemporary Hofner.I have a Hofner Contemporary HCT 500/1 Violin bass. It came equipped with the cheaply made Chinese controls. Should have done this upgrade years ago!
Exceptional upgrade from the Indonesian control panel provided with the 500/1 Contemporary! Now the bass has all-German electronics. Lows are now woodier and highs more crisp. Also an increase in volume output. Should have done this upgrade years ago.
