Synopsis
Now in paperback, the New York Times bestseller that takes readers on a riotous journey through the mind of one of America's premier comics George Carlin's legendary irreverence and iconoclasm are on full display in When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? as he vainly scours the American landscape for signs of intelligence in his third national bestseller. Ranging from his absurdist side (Message from a Cockroach; TV News: The Death of Humpty Dumpty; Tips for Serial Killers) to his unerring ear for American speech (Politician Talk; Societal Clichs; Euphemisms: 13 sections) to his unsparing views on America and its values (War, God, Stuff Like That; Zero Tolerance; Tired of the Handi-crap), Carlin delivers everything that his fans expect, and then adds a few surprises. Carlin on the battle of the sexes: Here's all you have to know about men and women: Women are crazy, men are stupid. And the main reason women are crazy is that men are stupid., On the heels of George Carlin's #1 New York Times bestseller Napalm & Silly Putty comes When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? -- infused with Carlin's trademark irreverent humor and biting cultural observations. Here we go again . . . George Carlin's hilarious When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? offers his cutting-edge opinions and observational humor on everything from evasive euphemistic language to politicians to the media to dead people. Nothing and no one is safe! Despite the current climate of political correctness, Carlin is not afraid to take on controversial topics: Carlin on the media: The media comprises equal parts business, politics, advertising, public relations, and show business. Nice combination. Enough bull for Texas to open a chain of branch offices. Carlin on the battle of the sexes: Here's all you have to know about men and women: women are crazy, men are stupid. And the main reason women are crazy is that men are stupid. Carlin on hygiene: When did they pass a law that says the people who make my sandwich have to be wearing gloves? I'm not comfortable with this. I don't want glove residue all over my food; it's not sanitary. Who knows where these gloves have been? Carlin on evasive language: Just to demonstrate how far using euphemisms in language has gone, some psychologists are now actually referring to ugly people as those with "severe appearance deficits." Hey, Doctor. How's that for "denial"? Carlin on politics: No self-respecting politician would ever admit to working in the government. They prefer to think of themselves "serving the nation." To help visualize the service they provide the country, you may wish to picture the things that take place on a stud farm. The thinking person's comic who uses words as weapons, Carlin puts voice to issues that capture the modern imagination. For instance, why are there Ten Commandments? Are UFOs real? What will the future really be like? This brand-new collection tackles all that and more. In When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? Carlin's razor-sharp observations demolish everyday values and leave you laughing out loud--delivering exactly what his countless fans have been waiting for., A hilarious collection of razor-sharp observations on sports, politics, news, food and just about everything under the sun from multi-New York Times Bestseller George Carlin. A thinking person's comic who uses words as weapons, Carlin demolishes everyday values with intelligence, wit and downright hilarity. Tirades, rants, screeds, thoughts, musings, lists, monologues, assertions, assumptions and a whole host of auxiliary verbal ordnance take the world apart and leave the reader gasping for more., Now in paperback comes the "New York Times" bestseller that takes readers on a riotous journey through the mind of one of America's premier comics.

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you.

This seller has little respect for the way they ship or how they describe products. This product was probably the first they described correctly but it’s tossed in an envelope without any sort of padding because they don’t care at all. I get that it’s cheap. I ordered from them accidentally but will be sure not to do so again. They have no respect for their customers.

  • Carlin Rolls Words Off His Pen Like Literary Honey

Mark Twain said, "The secret source of humor itself is not joy, but sorrow," and George Carlin, in his inimitable fashion, demonstrates Twain's point by exploring where trouble comes from and why the world is such a lousy place. While most humorists try to skewer with ice-pick wit, Carlin uses a meat ax. Using his straight-forward style, Carlin guides his readers through a murky world of language that is a much worse joke than anything he could conjure. His opening verbal slavo is worth the price of the entire book. Carlin writes about insurrections, stupidities, political crises, civil disturbances, and other human folly because it's fun. Hilarious from start to finish, Carlin's literary genius drips from every page. While his outrageous, irreverent humor is not for the faint of ...

  • The title was campy as expected.

I have been a great fan of George, especially his early works. This book however,as was the case for his TV sitcom was lacking inspiration, continuity, and general humor. It was disjointed and piecemeal at best. An occasional chuckle did erupt but was sparsly found through the many pages of musings and single line statements. A good book perhaps as a personal journal not for public consumption. All things run their course. If I had to grade it, it would receive a C- at best.

  • Awesome and funny book!

The book is a very good read, very funny and interesting.I bought this product because I saw George Carlin on youtube and loved his show,so when I heard there was a book I couldn't wait to buy and read it.This is one of the best books of George Carlin,I love it.Thank you for the book,i'd recommend this book to anyone with a sense of humor.

  • A must read for anyone who has a decent sense of humor.

I love George Carlin's book. They are very educational and I learn a lot from them. I encourage more people out there to read books by him. He is a very smart man who changed comedy forever.

  • poordumbcracker's book review

Typical Carlin. If you like religion or dislike profanity, stay the hell away. My aching ass, they give you enough space here to write another book. There's 3,284 characters remaining after this brief waste of words.
