Add's an extra level of deterrent.
These aren't nearly as strong, secure, or well built as pitlocks, but they are far cheaper and great for bikes that aren't overly valuable. Much better than a quick release or standard hex nut anyways. But of course, it's not hard to for one to get the key for these, but it's unlikely in most places that anyone would.
