About this product

Product Information

The Kershaw Camp 10 is a versatile knife that tackles many of the tasks you face when hunting, camping, hiking, or working in the yard. This 10-inch knife is the smallest in the Kershaw machete line, which makes it much more than a typical machete or parang. The full-tang fixed blade features a 65 Mn high-carbon tool steel construction. A full-tang means that the metal of the knife extends from the blade tip all the way through the handle. Knives constructed without the metal tang through the handle's length are not as strong as full-tangs. This product remains tough and dependable even under the most rugged, heavy usage. It has a black powder coat for corrosion resistance, and the black color makes the tactical blade non-reflective whether you are out in full moonlight or the middle of the day. The drop point blade has a recurved edge with a saber grind, and the forward weight design gives the knife a powerful feel in your grip. It is effective for cutting wood, branches, brush, and small saplings. The sturdy knife also makes quick work of clearing trails, camp areas, and yards. If the blade starts to dull, sharpen the metal to a razor's shaving edge. The 6-inch, ergonomic overmold handle is about 1 inch thick and composed of quality Kraton rubber. For added safety, it's equipped with a built-in hand guard. The textured grip provides a secure hold even when it becomes moist or sweaty. It is drilled at the pommel as well as in the bolsters for attaching a lanyard. The whole steel knife weighs 1 pound, 2.2 ounces, and is manufactured to tight tolerances. Kershaw knives are produced with modern techniques in China, and each product is of stellar quality for lifelong performance. The overall length is 16 inches, and the machete blade measures 0.2 inches in thickness. The Kershaw Camp 10 comes with its own molded Kydex plastic sheath that's designed for multiple carrying options. Since the sheath is made of high-quality material, it is durable and almost impervious to scratches and strong weather conditions. In addition to having a belt loop, the sheath can be fitted to a MOLLE vest or pack. There's also a security strap at the top to keep the knife in place. Because they are made from high carbon steel, which is harder and stronger than stainless, Kershaw's 10-inch knives do not bend or break. This characteristic is ideal for a machete. For maintenance, an occasional bit of oil on the metal edge provides rust protection. Robust Kershaw survival blades help remove branches from your path, cut kindling for a cookfire, or handle a threat that has jumped into your camp. The front weighted recurved design gives you more power for the broad slashing motions needed to clear property or trails. Kershaw was founded in 1974 with the goal of designing and manufacturing cold steel knives that are truly reliable. This multi-use, tactical survival knife is thoughtfully created in this tradition.

  • Surprisingly useful

Beyond the obvious cool factor this knife is extremely useful. It chops like a light hatchet, whacks like a machete and can even do light carving and cutting chores. The handle is A+ for comfort and grip. The double front and rear lanyard holes give you options for attachments. Some reviews ding the plastic sheath but I find it more than adequate and very light weight to boot. I paracord wrapped a mora knife and sheath to the outside of this giving me a total cutting tool setup on my belt. After a big wind storm I processed a 15' long 6" thick tree branch that came down in my back yard. Just used a corona folding saw to cut into short lengths and batoned all the wood using the kershaw camp 10. Knife was still paper cutting sharp afterwards. Great value...and did I mention cool!

  • Happy Camp 10 camper!

Works great for processing wood.Safer than a hatchet. Just right for splitting fat lighter. The handle gets a bit harsh after extended use as it's deeply serrated. An easy fix using the wrap that is used on tennis rackets. Connect yourself to this knife using a lanyard. There are two holes on the handle to facilitate your choice of tie. I plan on purchasing one for my son.

  • Great Tool

Weather camping, working, or surviving this is the perfect machete. It arch's forward just a hare for power through cutting. The handle fits your hand like a glove and does not slip even while sweating. The back of the blade is around a 1/4 inch thick and comes factory SHARP. Not too heavy to tire you out but good weight for cutting power. Price verses quality is great.

  • Excellent knife

very good so far, havent had any trouble with the steel (65mn) which i have little experience with. the mystery steel is a concern for the long run, they should have gone with 1075, or 5160, but for the price and overall quality, fit and finish this is quite a deal. who knows maybe this steel will be amazing. great chopper, and can carve quite well also.

  • All-around survival tool.

These are well made quality large knives and considering the price point you can not go wrong. This single item can replace the need to carry a large sheath knife as well as a small hatchet; if carry too much weight in the field is a concern. I recommend you back this knife up with a small quality made folding lock blade knife, the small knife will compliment the larger knife and the two knives will serve to meet all of your needs, including clearing brush, making a shelter, defending yourself, cutting a sandwich and cleaning small game and fish. I utilize several of these knives of various lengths depending on the task at hand. A MUST for every survivalist.

  • Chopping Power

Great for chopping limbs, small trees, batoning wood. If your building a campsite or prepping firewood its a great budget knife for that. Can get some curls for ferro rod but really need a smaller companion for that work. Sharp out of the box and cut myself playing around.

  • Good value for money

Appears to be well made with good weight and balance. Should make a good general purpose camp knife and chopper. Curious to see how the steel hold up to use. Just wish it wasn't Made in China. Kershaw used to be a respected name in USA made knives.

  • Kershaw camp 10

I really like this knife. In this category, I would throw in the Schrade bolo, Ontario sp 53, ( my fave) & possibly the camp 14. Now for the money, I feel this is a very good value. Well designed with a nice sheath. Might have to rig up a luggage or carry bag strap for it to make it better.
