  • Excellent daily prayer and devotional guide

I began reading and using "A Guide To Prayer," back in the late 80s. Daily I would find inspiration for thought and growth in my journey of faith. In time I began to schedule time to go away for a personal and private day of monthly retreat. The included sections for these retreats are challenging and again, inspiring. Thanks for a great resource for a follower of Christ, especially pastors and other leaders. The material follows the ancient practice of the lectionary reading for each day, connected to weekly texts for the Sundays of the Christian year. Thus a person gets a framework which carries one through the whole variety of the Christian faith. It is a guard against following only ones favored verses and getting into a rut. The included devotional readings cover a wide variety of writers from across the ages and the world, which serves to broaden my view of our shared faith.
