Designed for durability as well as reliability, this product has up to 1.4 million hours median time before failure. The manufacturer engineered this HDD to deliver an extremely high level of reliability and performance every day of the year. It has twice the processing power for maximum deliverance. The form factor of this drive ensures a standard fit in desktop computers and other 3.5-inch form factor bays. With a SATA connection, you'll easily slot this internal drive in your system.WD4000FYYZ drives have enhanced RAFF technology that feature advanced specifications and electronics. This advanced feature monitors the drive and also corrects the linear and rotational vibration in real-time. This improves efficiency in high workload environments. These drives also have a head positioning system with two actuators that improves positional accuracy over the data tracks. The main actuator provides coarse displacement with the use of electromagnetic actuator principles. Additionally, the secondary actuator utilizes piezoelectric motion to fine tune the head positioning for accuracy.These WD4000FYYZ SATA Drives feature a motor shaft that is secured at both ends. This helps to reduce possible system-induced shock and stabilize platters for accurate tracking during write and read operations. The Multi-Axis Shock Sensor automatically detects even very subtle shock events that may occur. This feature compensates in order to protect your data and information. This product measures approximately 1.03 inches in height by approximately 5.79 inches in depth. It measures 4 inches in width and weighs approximately 1.65 pounds. This internal hard disk is designed to fit standard desktop and equivalent drive bays. The WD4000FYYZ has a Power Dissipation of 10.40 Watts for Read/Write. It has a Power Dissipation Idle of 8.60 Watts. Its operating temperature ranges from 41 degrees Fahrenheit to 131 degrees Fahrenheit.The RAID-specific, time-limited error recovery feature prevents fallout caused by extended hard drive error-recovery processes. The NoTouch Ramp Load feature ensures that the recording head never touches the disk media. This way there is significantly less wear caused to the recording head. It also means less wear and tear is caused to the drive during transit. These drives are put through extended burn-in testing with thermal cycling in order to ensure long-lasting, reliable operation. The Dynamic Fly Height Technology also ensures that each read-write head's fly height is adjusted in real time.

    Reliable enterprise drive

    This is an enterprise-grade drive, so it's reliable, reasonably fast, and has a good warranty. It's also power-hungry, runs a little warm, and can be loud, but that's to be expected. I have nearly 20 of these drives and have only ever had one die on me. They can also run up to 5 C hotter than the WD Red drives at idle, and more than that under heavy load. They are also noticeably louder than the WD Red drives. I don't have a decibel reading or anything, but it might get annoying if you have these drives a few feet from your desk, but then again these are designed for servers. They are more expensive than other 3 TB drives, but if you're someone who needs durable drives you'll appreciate their reliability and extra warranty.

    Great drive, vibrates a lot

    The disk is very fast and reliable. However, it vibrates a lot, so make sure there's nothing inside your computer that will rattle!

    Great drives, but run a bit hot

    The drives are very quiet, fast, and reliable, but run quite warm. After leaving them running in a cage with a fan for a week, I had no issues with them except for the heat.
