Save the old control arm!
Cons: The instructions do not mention that you have to save the control arm from the ice maker you're replacing - the new ice maker, oddly enough - does not come with a control arm. Why not? It's a critical part of the ice maker. Luckily, I didn't discard the old ice maker, so I was able to remove the old control arm and install it on the new ice maker. I didn't notice from the picture of the new ice maker that that it doesn't show a control arm. Also, the knock-out that has to be removed has to be cut out with a knife or razor blade - it doesn't just pop out. Why have a knock-out when you have to remove it anyway? Lastly, why should it take up to 24 hours for the new ice maker to begin producing ice, as noted in the instructions? Pros: It works.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

1/4" nut driver is all you need to install this ice maker. Super easy
I had to take a couple small parts off my original ice maker to make this one work. Nothing complicated. Overall this is a drop in replacement to the original equipment. It has been working great now for over a month. I got nearly 17 years out of the original part. May have gotten more but the Teflon was worn off of one cube mold. It was causing the maker to mess up once a year or so. Great Ice Maker might be better than original
Started making ice within a coupe of hours after installing. Installation was pretty simple just had to remove screw for wire cover, disconnect wiring harness, remove existing ice maker and base, remove three screws holding base on old ice maker, install new ice make on existing tray, Remove the small water fill funnel on the new unit be making a cut at the bottom where it is held on to the spindle, install the existing tall funnel on the new spindle, slide back in place connect the new wire harness, and install the wire cover and ready for ice.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

New ice age?
After replacing our shot-out icemaker with this one we had to move our fridge outdoors. This thing makes ice so fast our back yard is full of ice! I believe this ice maker will reverse globwl warming! Catch 22 however is I believe that we have entered a new "ice age". Don't put your winter garb in storage!
