Nice little camera
I've been using video cameras for decades. I try to by pro or pro-sumer type cameras. However the last camera I bought was well over a decade ago. Another canon that uses DV tape. I'm out of that biz, however I wanted something HD for my Daughter's wedding. Much to my surprise the field is nothing like I remembered it. I found this camera, good price, features, etc. Bought it and a big card for memory. Turns out I have way more recording time than I need, almost 16 hours. I found that with hand video, the digic chip does very well to smooth it out. Much better than my older camera. Video quality is amazing for the price. I wish it had the frame type mode that my old camera had. In fact a lot of those settings are not there. I don't think I need them anymore, it does a really good job by itself. I wish I had bought another one of these for the wedding. I could have had a two camera setup that would have rivaled what I used to do as a pro. This camera is a lot lighter than my old one, just a fraction of the pro camera I had. Seems almost like a spy camera. Zoom works well, fast/slow and smooth. In fact the camera is barely larger than the tripod shoe that I used to have my pro camera mounted to. Kind of looked like a joke. Hooking it up to my Fedora Linux machine, using the Dolphin app, I was able to see the camera in review mode and move the files to my desktop hard drive. There I used kdenlive to process the video segments into a finished product. It's not premier pro which is what I used to use (and can't anymore... old win XP product), however it's good for pasting the segments all together and coming up with a mp4, etc. If you want something that has good video, inexpensive, this is it. This product is discontinued, however. Grab it while you can.
