This guy can write
If the story works for you, it’s well crafted. I couldn’t put it down. I’m a heavy reader for the past 50 years, and this surprisingly blew me away. How have I missed this? Bought it used as I do a couple of times a month when I can’t source at my local library. They had 120 copies and I got tired of waiting! I hear Blood Meridian is the best. Again, long waiting list locally. With the exception of a “John Gault” speech, pretty horses was near perfect. I grew up with a lot of horses and later lived in West Texas near San Angelo. We traveled Mexico by VW and bus 40 years ago. The land descriptions, people and horse knowledge is moving. A must read.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Gripping plot, beautiful language and a bit less morbid than other McCarthy books. Great read.

Great novel, in pretty good shape too.
