Synopsis
The poetry of Marian Eikelhof confronts the reader with his deepest emotions and offers us a mirror showing what goes on behind our smile and the masks we carry in our daily lifes. In her verbal images she pictures the cruel side of the system in which people get more and more alienated from each other by consumerism and a fast, yet superficial life style. She strongy resists inhumanity by metaphorically describing the states of loneliness and desorientation it leads to. At the same time Eikelhof's straightforward way of putting things is softened by an undertone of tenderness in her words and a touch of eroticism. Especially for the more adventurous poetry lover "a zero hour contract with life" is a new and refreshing experience challenging the mind to see life in a different perspective.
