    After hrs of looking....

    We got these racks because we have a Hummer H3.. and wanted ones that folded... in comparison to others they were pricey ... but worth it. They look awesome... They do stick out a bit further on the sides but loading to that height ( we use a small step stool we keep in back ) is much easier. We had to get longer screws and bolts .. the ones provided did not fit around our bar... but they seem to be ones we will have for a few years! We did not use the ropes to tether front and back (yet anyway) they were very secure in the racks with just the two straps around them. We did find that placing the bottom strap under the kayak before putting it into the rack rather than up and behind as the instructions state... keeps them from coming out of the slotted strap holder on back... making it ...

    COULD HAVE DIED

    we strapped our kayak to the rook using this Malone rack, and the nuts that hold the Malone rack to the standard rack didn't work, so the kayak would go at an angle to the car. The wind was strong so we drove at 45 MPH and stopped often to keep it on the roof. Furthermore it permanently dented our kayak where the Malone supports hit our Eddie Bauer kayak. As if that weren't enough,the description implies it assists in loading the kayak. This is not true. You have to lift the kayak onto the rack (on top of our minivan) and my wife and I are not tall or strong so this is very difficult.

    Excellent Kayak Rack.

    I truly appreciate an excellent quality product that I can get year's of use. Installation was a breeze and because I travel back and forth between PA and NY I used nylon lock nuts with hardware to secure racks to roof. I give these Malone downloader racks 10 out of 10.

    Best Kayak Rack for the Money

    I use two downloaders on my car. They work great!! The flat face of the downloaders acts as a loading ramp, so instead of having to life your boat over the edge of the J you can rest it on the face and slide it up and over into the rack. Universal fit works great. Malone makes two different sets of universal clamps. Jawz and Jawz2 - they fit everything. If you really need help loading, you can add the Telos loading arms which make things even easier. Great system.
