In my opinion, this is an amazing router for the money. It has AC wireless up to 1750 Mbps, 4 gigabit Ethernet ports, 1 USB 3.0 port on the back and 1 USB 2.0 port on the side for network storage and printers, and, finally in physical features, the ability to turn off the router's wireless radio without accessing the software on a computer. Inside of Netgear's genie utility, it has plenty of features for the average and technical user, including QOS, UPNP (That allows multiple game consoles to have an open NAT at the same time), and custom DNS servers. Also, some basic wireless settings can be changed through the Netgear Genie app on mobile phones as well. Finally, the downsides. This router does not have external antennas, which limit wireless performance a little bit, and doesn't allow you to get more powerful antennas. Second, the router was a pain to get an internet connection on a bridged Comcast gateway, and required an hour or two of troubleshooting to solve the problem. Finally, the model is very thin, so it can be bumped into and knocked over easily if no Ethernet cables are plugged into the back of the unit. Despite the downsides, the router is very good for people who want a reliable internet connection for the money and don't want to fork out over $150 for the Netgear Nighthawk router, which is only giving users a little more bandwidth, but does not matter for most people. Unless I was a router enthusiast, I would go with this router.Read full review

It’s okay. Does what it should and does good handling over 100mb internet speeds like it should. Reading stories about Netgear, seems like a large number of their routers come off the assembly line with poor solder joints and other bugs. This unit is no different. The lights flicker on and off all the time. Otherwise, it works. On the negative side, the 2.4G Wi-Fi broadcasts a little further than the 5G. My devices want to auto lock on the 5G signal and when I go outdoors the signal is dropped. So, I turned the 5G off on the router. Problem is, the maximum 2.4G Wi-Fi speed doesn’t go over 50mb and if I could use the 5G, it was equal to the modem output speeds (135mb).

NETGEAR Service is shit though so you better know what you want to do when you get this type of router because it is as simple as Plug And Play BUT you dont spend the money for that here. This router giver you more access more control and more importantly it gives you a nice GUI to use ONline or as an App. As a parent I want to control my sons time online because sometimes he will go off an watch youtube for hours without realizing its 3 in the morning! So this router allows for you to give him Guest access and then shut it off when you want without effecting your connection. I also wanted to use the DNS option BUT that was not so easy and decided to go with the CISCO free family DNS to control the sites ALL of us can and cannot go too. RAnge is great and the router does what all routers do if not be better to handle all the devices on connected house we have!Read full review

A setup CD would have helped a lot but with my son's help we got it working and on the 5gh band downloads are almost twice as fast as our old N300 router. On the 5gh band only a & n protocols show up not g & b but that's not a big deal. All necessary docs can be downloaded and printed from Netgear.

I needed fast throughput, and the reviews said this was one of the fastest (wired0. Price is good because it had been available a while, and easy to find/bid on ebay. The wifi is also as fast as I need, but was not a real concern. Netgear has an easy setup - if done using the directions, it's easy. Buying used is not a problem with me, and I don't need the fancier/newer and more expensive units. This does what I need. It also has a nice feature in operating as a wireless bridge between two areas of my home where it would be hard to install wire (CAT6, etc), and I need athe wired connection. But for a bridge, you need a normal router , and one tha can be configureed as a bridge. I have bid/won on 3 of these, and am happy owning all 3 of them.
