To start off i feel the need to say overall the game is very addicting and time consuming. I bought the game for my girlfriend on Christmas to try and get her to play the Wii i bought her previously. Well it worked out perfectly, my girlfriend stays up playing all night long bragging about how far she is, my other room mate tries to figure out the best way to plant crops for the most efficient and easy-going way to grow his crops, and well I myself have burned a few hours being obsessed. The game reminds me of the old N64 version i played years back that is the main reason i bought it, the game looked very similar to the classic one i enjoyed. I think all ages would enjoy this game very much, it has a pretty in-depth kind of game play for the people that want to try to over achieve myself included and it's easy enough for the young adolescent to play and not feel overwhelmed. Pros: - Addicting =P - Seems to have a prolonged story line so you can play for years(in-game) - Controls are relaxed but do take some getting used to - the game is great for all ages - Characters feel like they were pulled from the old 64 version LOVE it - Stamina Bar well it brings a new spin on how you can play the game, you will either love it or hate it. Makes for some very prolonged days, with some heavy consequences at the end - Tool Upgrades in this one are well worth the time and effort, don't forget to check out the cave and sell some ores and gems, you just never know who might show up. Cons: - Controls...if you have ever played this game you probably know what it is I'm referring to, the JOYSTICK for some reason just is way to touchy in this game at least for me. Biggest annoyance would have to be when harvesting if you figure out you can plant more crops close together but just leave the middle one out so you can jump into it you can use your space more efficiently, Problem with this is anytime you jump and even breath on the joystick if there is another space adjacent to the one you jumped to, your cute lil guy feels the need to hop about 2 to 3 more spaces...very annoying. - The animations for every thing you do in game, like cooking, or after you complete construction or anything from Woody's shop, they are repetitious and time consuming. There is no way to skip the NPC animations. - Stamina Bar, at first i really didn't enjoy this one bit especially at the beginning of the game. You will be able to Hoe some of your ground then it will probably be about 10 am or 12pm and you will have to sleep or you will work yourself to the point of exhaustion and have to pay the doctor a visit...(food will prevail) - The caves...i hate random chance to get to the lower levels, wish there was some way to find out "UP" or "DOWN" Overall I love the game and would recommend strongly to anyone who wants a relaxed time consuming game to play, the game always has something to do whether it is harvesting, watering, woodcutting, exploring, taking care of your pets, getting to know the locals.Read full review
I've always loved Harvest Moon, and this game is another great addition to the series. It does lack the ability to choose your gender (in the wii version, it remains in the gamecube version), but that does not bother me as I do not really care about gender, as it doesn't effect gameplay too much. The farming is easy, and fun, making money isn't as tedious as it has been in other games of the series, and the ability to own different properties is an amazing quality, that I believe has been undervalued. I would recommend this to anyone with a strong 9/10 rating.

Despite the cheesy cartoon graphics....this game is hands down one of Natsume's all time best. The free play is almost endless. The fish graphics increased, the amount of possible marriage candidates increased a lot, the story line is fun, the mining is the best yet, the cooking is great, you can now have multiple land and houses farming is much more simplistic (which in my opinion is a relief) so it allows you to enjoy the game a lot more. If I could say anything, it would be better graphics, and maybe add some side quests for the town folks.
I loved the gamecube version of this game so I decided to get the wii version to see what wasw improved on. I did find out there is one difference, and I don't like it. In the gamecube version you could pick your gender, this game didn't allowed me to pick my gender. Other than that I still love the game! Interesting gameplay and its a bit like real lfie in the fact that the crops can wither and the animals can die due to not taking care of them.
The controls at the beginning of the game were very frustrating, the booklet doesn't explain them well and there is no tutorial at the beginning of the game or a tour through the town. Eventually you are able to figure things out and collecting notes keeps the game entertaining and interesting. Character interaction including townsfolk and wildlife creatures is very fun and interesting. Overall it's a good game once you get past the controls.
