More than a "mobile" matcher
I (K7ZM) have been using an NVIS dipole antenna and I haven't been able to get the SWR under 3:1. I tied the MFJ-909 to adjust the capacitance at the antenna feed point. Turned the knob to change the values and bingo! A near-perfect SWR of 1 2:1. My NVIS ntenna is only 6' off the ground and has four ground reflectors. The MFJ-909 is made for "mobile" operation and I had to seal the unit with liquid tape so it would be weather resistant. works great if used like directions say.
Used it on hi q piranha antenna. Took shunt coil off, and just just used the 909. It worked better. Now I add a 56 inch to antenna and can get swr below 1.5 every where from 160 meters to 6 meters. Without whip 80 thru 6.
