This is a nice little game about puppy dogs. It involves adopting a dalmation puppy and then taking care of it by giving it love and attention. You also feed it and train it to sit, recognize its own name ect.... I like this game. My son wanted it for Christmas and he has played with it quite a bit. It can be challenging to train these puppies!! We did figure out that any background noise like the television, stereo ect.., can interfere with the puppy "hearing" your commands. So it is best played in a quiet room. When you get your puppy trained you can take her to shows and earn ribbons. Over all, this is a good non-violent game that has a good entertainment value.
Lots of voice commands (which DS does not always understand). Only been playing for a few days...so i'm wondering if your pup ever grows into an adult dog. If so can your dog have puppies? A vet. clinic would be something to add to these games. Since from what I understand its supposed to be sorta like what you would you dog. Some of the things the dogs find are not realistic...i've never heard of dogs finding boxes of tissues while out for walks. You can teach them general commands and a few of your own. Then again it all depends on which dog you buy, some are easier to train the others (not talking breeds, talking personalities). Swimming would also be a suggestion to add to these games.... some dogs love to swim. I guess you need more options of things to do with your dogs. And IF they do not eventually become adult dogs...thats something for the creators to think about as well. How about injuries? dogs do get injured? have cars on streets maybe, so that owner can teach dogs proper etiquette on walking outside...these are just all suggestions.Read full review
Ive always been a fan of this game, the puppys are very cute and the voice action is fun (though a bit annoying at times). Unlocking the various puppies consistently gives you something to shoot for as well as getting your pups to be the best they can be with training and play. The only real flaw in these Nintendogs games is its repetetive side, for example the only contests you can do are frisbee, obediance, and agility plus you can only do a total of 3 contests a day. It may get boring quickly and it takes quite a bit of time, dedication, and patience to go through the contests with each dog over and over but I find its worth it and wonderful for those whom cannot own a real dog.
What I like about this game is that it encourages little kids to be responsible and learn from the consequences of not being committed with a task. Yes it is cute to have a puppy and play with her, but you also have to take care of her necessities: feed her, give her a bath, walk her, pick up the poop, etc. It could be a little frustrating, since in order to get more puppies you must train the one you have and enter her in contests to win money, but overall it is a great game, my daughter loves it.
Bought this for my daughter's 6th birthday! Fabulous game! She's really enjoying it. For her age, she needs a little guidance... this is because the instructions are written on screen, not spoken. There are a good number of activities to do and she's chosen it time and again over any of the other ds games that she has. It's great that there are different breeds of dog to choose from too. I'd recommend the game to anyone remotely dog friendly :)
I've always loved cute cartoon animals, but not real ones. This combines the best of both worlds. You get a cute but realistic-looking puppy to take care of without the real world hassles or expenses. The level of interaction is amazing (e.g. petting it with your stylus). My only complaint is that as someone who knows nothing about taking care of a real animal, I've become stuck at the beginning stage and have to slowly figure out how to take my pet training to the next level. I just hope I can do so before I run out of money to buy water and food for my puppy! She sure is cute though. :)
I really wanted this game when a friend of mine let me play it at school. I got a pretty good deal on it from Ebay and received in good timing. The game is adorable and they are similar to real dogs, sort of. They get fleas when they're dirty and they get hungry more than once a day. I like that you can find presents as you walk them because it does not happen every time, so it's suprising. I do not like it when you meet up with "neighborhood dogs" while you walk them because you cannot skip it or get out of it. The game has a timer on how long the dogs bark at each other. All it does is make the walk longer. I also like how you can make them run rather than walk to speed it up. To be honest the game gets a little repetitve. it's cute at first but there's only so much to do that you end up doing the same thing over and over. It's not like it has levels, only points so that you get new products or dogs. I like this game but I end up putting it aside for awhile and coming back to it just because it feels like a chore when you do the same thing each time. I have my own dog who does different things every day, like pee on my mom's bed! Now that's realistic.Read full review
Lots of fun! Dogs are a little hard to train, but all in all its a fun expierience, especially for those who can't physically own a dog. If you buy a game and it has someones previous pets on it, all you have to do to erase the memory is right after you tap on the nintendogs logo, hold the A, B, X, Y, Left, Right buttons at the same time (have someone help). When the screen pops up, follow the instructions to erase old memory and start new ones!!
I personally have never played this game- it's in too much demand in our home for Mom or Dad to get a chance! I bought this game for my 6 year old daughter. Her older siblings (ages 10 and 12) love it as well. According to my 6 year old, when you begin the game it takes you to the pet shop. You get to choose which dog you get. You take it home, pet it to calm it down, and name it. Then you can begin to train it. After it is trained to sit, you can take it for walks (where it can meet and play with other dogs and sometimes find toys), enter it in competitions (where you can earn money to buy more dogs), and go to stores to buy or sell food, toys, etc. You need to make sure to take care of your dog. If it isn't getting enough food or water, it will run away. My kiddos favorite parts of the game are caring for the dogs (feeding, watering, brushing and washing) disc competitions, the talking parrot at the discount shop, and the jump rope. The least favorite parts of the game is that the presents found on walks can sometimes be difficult to get, and the dogs try to eat old food from garbage cans on walks- ew! Overall, my daughter really enjoys this game. It doesn't have any negative elements that I'm aware of. It teaches responsible saving and spending of money, and proper treatment of pets. It's definitely a game I would recommend.Read full review
My boyfriend and I just recently bought Nintendogs: Dalmation and Friends for our new DS Systems. I couldn't wait to get it, but my boyfriend thought it would be really dumb. It turns out that even he likes it and he is very picky about his video games. It also has been one of the only games for DS that I've noticed great graphics! If you want a dog, but can't have a real one, seriously, this is the game to buy! I am absolutely in love with this game and you can choose from so many different breeds on this particular one: Boxer, German Shephard, Dalmation, Golden Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, and a Beagle. Great game! I love it!
