Not as good as the first movie, but it is a satisfying conclusion- and it actually concludes. Hackman is great a Popeye Doyle, especially when he is out of his element. John Frankenheimer tells a tight story that is realistic and exciting.

The first film is a true classic an amazing movie. The second is quite different, missing many elements of the first film. In many was it's a stripped down version. The first is based on actual events, this one is a fantasy of how the story should have ended. This is Popeye Doyle pure and simple, we get to get more into his character. This film was carried totally by the great Gene Hackman who is a joy to watch. A rather unusual but effective sequel. I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first film.

What a letdown! It's missing that gritty NYC atmosphere of the 70's and gene hackman becomes a drug addict in a foreign country????What a disappointment.
