About this product

Product Information

J.R.R. Tolkien's classic prelude to his Lord of the Rings trilogy featuring cover art by Caldecott Honor winning children's book illustrator Peter Sis, this edition of The Hobbit has been specially formatted for young readers. Larger print size and wider margins provide reading ease for the youngest Tolkien fans. This quality digest edition also includes interior maps and original interior illustrations by J.R.R. Tolkien. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum.

One of my best transactions. Great communication. Owner described DVD correctly and even has a description of it attached to the DVD. Price was perfect and DVD arrived in good condition. When I played it, it was in perfect shape. I will buy from buyer in the future and recommend him to others.

  • The Hobbit hardcover for younger readers"

This is a slightly larger edition of the hobbit tale. I bought it because It is hardcover and easier to hold, read and use. It is also cheaper then the other hardcover versions. The text itself is identical but slightly larger. There were not any more illustrations in it then any of the other editions of the hobbit books, and in fact i think it has the minimum amount I have seen out of all of them, not counting the front and back cover 'abstract drawings'. Still a great tale of course, in my top 10 greatest books of all time.
